New to Grow
I work with clients who are going through difficult times and need a supportive ear and an optimistic perspective.. I have worked with teens, young adults, adults and seniors. It is a great joy to watch people move from needing extra support to obtaining wellbeing and existing in a better space. I am a proud parent and I enjoy working with crystals, doing mindfulness activities, and journaling my hopes and dreams.
During our first session, I will get to know you better by asking a lot of questions. I will try to figure out a timeline of when things started and what was happening during that time. I will also ask about your childhood and about your current life to try to identify any long lasting patterns. We will walk through the difficulties that you are having and the thoughts and feelings associated with those difficulties.
I practice care and compassion and can always find positivity and optimism. I bring a unique perspective that can bring insight to a situation. I also am intuitive, but will always test my gut by asking questions and finding the client's thoughts and feelings about what I am picking up.
Client would be motivated in and out of therapy and have the mindset that they can be helped. Client will be willing to do homework outside of session. Client would have concerns about mental, emotional, and physical health. Their therapy goals would be to have good mental, emotional and physical health. Their therapy goals would also be to have gain coping skills.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
With the CBT framework, we identify maladaptive thinking and realign it with more positive possibilities. We utilize affirmations, mindfulness, and help bring in better thoughts, which effect feelings, which in turn affect behaviors.
Positive Psychology
Unlike the disease model, which looks at everything that is going wrong and how to treat it, Positive Psychology takes a look at what is going right with an individual and seeks to foster and nurture those things. With Positive Psychology, we shift the focus from the negative to what is not going wrong. This helps to reframe perceptions into a more positive perspective.
Strength-Based
Focusing on the strengths a client has in their lives can help reframe the client's perspective of themself. The client will self-report strengths and I will help them to identify other strengths that they may not have considered before. Focusing on strengths helps to build confidence within the client and counselor will often redirect to client's strengths.
