New to Grow
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 15 years experience in the mental health treatment field. As your counselor, my goal is to provide a safe and supportive space where you can reflect, heal, and grow. Together, we’ll work toward building resilience, clarity, and confidence so you can face life’s challenges with hope. Counseling is not only about reducing pain or stress; it’s also about rediscovering joy, uncovering strengths, and stepping into a life of purpose. Whether you’re navigating depression, anxiety, men’s issues, or simply feeling stuck, I’ll walk alongside you as you take meaningful steps toward healing and growth. I have experience working with clients from teens to older adults, and I welcome people from all walks of life. For those who desire it, I also integrate Christian faith into the counseling process—drawing on timeless spiritual truths alongside evidence-based counseling practices to help you find deeper peace, meaning, and direction. My areas of expertise include stress, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, men’s issues, adoption, grief and loss, relationship challenges, suicidal thoughts, infertility, coping with health concerns, aging, and dementia. I am a husband, father, transracial adoptive dad, and a Christian. I have a good sense of humor, enjoy learning about history, and love The Lord of The Rings, Star Trek, Star Wars, and the Marvel Universe.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Taking the first step toward counseling is a meaningful decision, and I’m honored you’re considering working with me. If you can complete your paperwork before the first session it will really help us to hit the ground running. The first session is a time for us to get to know each other, so feel to ask any questions about me or my services that you think of. During your first session I'll spend a couple minutes covering some basics of counseling but then we'll dig into discussing your reasons for coming to counseling at this time. We'll also discuss an overview of your current state, your history, your relationships and supports, your health, your strengths, and your aspirations. By the end of the session we'll formulate what goals you want to get out of your counseling services in future sessions.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I have over 15 years of experience working in the mental health treatment field. I have a laid-back approach, am an excellent listener, and pose questions and comments that bring about increased insight into your situation. I pay attention to thinking patterns, feelings, relationship patterns, and communication styles. I encourage a lot of self-care. My clients leave session feeling encouraged, empowered, and more insightful.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Courage isn’t the absence of fear. It’s choosing to move forward because your wellbeing matters. If you’re here, you are already exhibiting courage because something in you is ready for life to feel lighter, steadier, and more manageable—and you don’t have to do that alone. Together, we can face what feels hard. Step by step, we’ll ease fears, clarify thoughts, and build strength. Side by side, we’ll discover practical ways to navigate life with balance, calm, hope, and faith. Together, we can turn small steps into real change, helping you feel calmer, more confident, and supported every day.
Eclectic
I use techniques and philosophies from various therapeutic approaches to create a unique treatment plan tailored to your specific needs, goals, and circumstances.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Together we evaluate the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and actions. We look for ways to change thinking patterns to result in changed feelings and actions.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
A deeply supportive, non-judgmental therapeutic environment is built on three core conditions: unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuineness. This creates a space where we can explore your feelings and gain new insights.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative, client-centered approach that helps you explore what you want to change and why it matters to you. Rather than telling you what to do, I listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and help you uncover your own reasons for change. Together, we work to reduce ambivalence, strengthen motivation, and build confidence so change feels achievable and aligned with your values.
Christian Counseling
Christian counseling honors both faith and clinical insight. I integrate well-established counseling practices with the truths of Scripture to support emotional, relational, and spiritual growth. Our work is guided by grace, wisdom, and respect for your personal faith journey, helping you navigate challenges in a way that nurtures both your mental health and your beliefs.
