As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with 28 years of experience, I work with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds, faiths and cultures and tailor therapy to their unique goals and experiences. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness based therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), compassion based therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) . Being able to help individuals maneveur various challenges and transitions has been a great satisfaction in my professional life.
Starting therapy can be difficult; however it is an important step in improving your life. The decision to seek psychotherapy is one that takes much courage and can positively change the current path of your life. In a safe and positive environment, you will be able to be vulnerable and begin your therapy journey. You will gain control and self-awareness and will learn new skills thus making it more fluid to make positive decisions for yourself. My approach is nonjudgemental and compassionate. I have a sense of humor, am empathic and intuitive in my approach to working with clients.
My strengths are active listening, compassion, empathy and a hopeful approach for improvement in one's mental health. I am most effective working with adult women who experiencing challenges and transitions and have a history of trauma. I believe in the body/mind/spirit connection which impacts our lives.
Using various modalities, clients are able to examine their thoughts, decisions and subsequent behaviors. I work most effectively with women of college age and older who are experiencing anxiety, trauma or life or role transitions. As women we live in various roles - daughter, sister, wife and mother at the same time. In therapy, we can explore feelings, examine how our own inner stories are actually adding to our stress, reconnect with our inner power to experience acceptance of our authentic selves.
