Amy Markuson

LICSW (she/her)5 years of experience

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over five years of experience helping adults and teens better understand the patterns that keep them feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck. I provide online therapy throughout Florida and Minnesota, specializing in anxiety, ADHD, OCD, perfectionism, overthinking, emotional sensitivity, and relationship challenges.

Even the Loudest Mind Can Learn to Rest.

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and practical. Drawing from evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and mindfulness, we’ll work together to build greater self-awareness, develop practical skills for everyday life, and navigate difficult thoughts and emotions with greater confidence and self-compassion.

First session

Starting therapy can feel a little intimidating, especially when you're not sure what to expect. Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other, talk about what's been on your mind, and explore what you're hoping to gain from therapy. You don't need to have everything figured out or know exactly where to begin. I'll help guide the conversation, listen without judgment, and make sure you feel heard, understood, and supported.

Strengths

I bring warmth, compassion, curiosity, and a practical, down-to-earth approach to our sessions. One of my strengths is helping you connect the dots between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, making sense of patterns that may have left you feeling overwhelmed or stuck. I believe in meeting you where you are, recognizing your strengths, and working collaboratively to find strategies that fit your unique needs and everyday life. There's no pressure to share everything at once or move faster than you're comfortable with. My goal is to create a welcoming space where you can be yourself, feel empowered to ask questions, and leave with a greater sense of clarity, hope, and confidence about the path ahead.

Ideal clients

Do you ever feel like your mind just won't slow down? Maybe you replay conversations, second-guess decisions, struggle to get started on things, or feel exhausted from trying to keep everything together. On the outside, you may seem like you have it all figured out, but inside, you're navigating anxiety, self-doubt, overwhelming emotions, or the pressure to meet everyone's expectations. You may find yourself caught in cycles of worry, avoiding things that feel uncomfortable, putting others' needs before your own, or feeling frustrated by patterns you can't seem to change. You want things to feel different, but you're not always sure where to begin. You don't have to know exactly what's wrong or have all the answers to begin therapy. Maybe you're looking to better understand yourself, feel more confident in your decisions, build healthier relationships, or simply find some relief from the constant mental noise. Whether you're ready to make changes or just beginning to explore what's been holding you back, we'll work together to recognize your strengths, develop practical coping skills, and create meaningful changes that align with the life you want to live.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps us understand how our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected and how these patterns can influence the way we experience everyday life. Together, we'll explore unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge self-critical thoughts, and develop healthier ways of responding to situations that leave you feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) focuses on helping you better understand and manage your emotions, navigate challenging situations, and build healthier relationships. Together, we'll explore patterns that may leave you feeling overwhelmed, emotionally reactive, or stuck, while learning practical skills to respond to difficult experiences with greater awareness and confidence.
