About me

Hello! My name is Caleb Knorr, a counselor based in Steubenville, OH with over nine years of experience supporting people through experiences of complex trauma, social anxiety, anger management, grief, depression, and more. I also have a particular passion for working with teenagers, supporting them as they navigate the unique challenges of growing up. Whatever you're carrying deserves space to be heard without rush or judgment. I believe real growth comes not from battling difficult thoughts and emotions, but from self-compassion, connection to the present moment, and a defined commitment to enacting our values.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I believe that we are, at our core, relational beings. I believe connection, community, and being truly known by another person are essential to our well-being. The therapeutic relationship itself is part of the healing. You won't be treated as a diagnosis or a problem to be solved, but as a whole person deserving of sincere care, respect, and accompaniment on your journey. The beginning of counseling will center on creating a safe, trusting, and collaborative therapeutic relationship, one where you feel free to explore your experiences without worry of judgment.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my biggest strengths is my ability to build trust, I know that doesn't happen overnight, so I'm intentional about creating a calm, judgment-free space where your story can come forth naturally. I bring patience, genuine curiosity, and a collaborative spirit to every session. What sets my approach apart is that I am working with you to slow down, be present, feel truly heard, and move toward meaningful growth.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is someone who's finally ready to take that first step, even though reaching out can be the hardest part! They may be carrying something heavy or simply looking for space to be heard without rush or judgment. They're drawn to a calm, judgment-free environment where their story can come forth naturally, in their own time. More than anything, they're someone who wants to slow down, feel truly heard, and work toward meaningful growth. I invite you to get in touch!

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Helps you accept difficult thoughts and feelings, learning to experience them in new ways, while committing to actions aligned with your core values.

Somatic

I use Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. It is a body-centered approach to healing trauma (and other difficult emotional experiences) that pays close attention to physical sensations, posture, and movement, not just thoughts and emotions. By tracking how trauma, and other overwhelming emotions and experiences, show up in the body, this method helps release stuck stress responses and restore a felt sense of safety and calm.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Identifies unhelpful thought patterns and teaches practical skills to shift them into healthier behaviors.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

Gradually confronts feared situations while resisting compulsions, reducing anxiety and OCD symptoms over time.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Offers a warm, non-judgmental space where you lead the process and feel truly heard and respected.
