New to Grow
Therapy can be a frightening, overwhelming process, yet one of the most rewarding and life changing experiences of your life. It allows you to be you, share your thoughts and feelings without judgement, feel safe, gain insight into your thought process, your behaviors, and learn to be in control of your overall experiences. Through your strengths and weaknesses, you will learn to embrace each and every experience, and you will gain the knowledge to make the changes you need to achieve your goals. You will find the power within you to bring fulfillment to your life journey. I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years of experience helping people, couples, and families grow, and learn what they need to have a more fulfilling life experience. I will listen to your life experience. I will listen to your challenges. I will work with you on reaching your goals or helping you identify your goals in order for you to feel successful in our therapeutic process.
During our first session, I will ask you questions to get to know you. I will learn about your background, your history, your relationships, your medical history, your family of origin, and your current experiences such as who you are living with, your relationships, children, employment, and any other information that could be helpful for me to understand your current experience.
I approach you in every session as you are the expert in your life. I listen to you, work to understand your perspective, your experience, and use your own strengths to help you move forward into reaching the goals you are seeking to reach. I will help you see the things you haven't seen, reflect on the things you haven't thought about, and make the changes you hadn't previously considered or wanted to make. I will help you gain clarity on who you want to be, and empower you with the tools you need to be that person you are eager to be.
I have extensive history working with adolescents, adults, and women experiencing life/mood changes due to the birth of a child, and I have a great passion for taking each patient for who they are and helping them work towards a more fulfilling life journey. Often, therapy seems overwhelming, scary, unnecessary, or even represents a sign of weakness, however, think about what it will be like to live with your internal battle for the rest of your life because the thought of working through these challenges seems unnecessary or scary? What if confronting these challenges now allows you to live a life with more freedom from pain, hurt, anger, sadness, anxiety, fear, unhappiness? What if confronting these challenges allows you to heal and leave behind all that has been slowing you down or stopping you from living the life you want to live or live it in the way you want to live it?
I use CBT to help my patients understand how their thoughts, feelings and behaviors are connected, and how they influence and/or affect each other. I will work to help you identify your thoughts, learn to see a broader perspective or alternative way of thinking about things, to help reframe your thoughts to help you feel more aligned and live your life more aligned to what you want it to be.
