I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who, for over 13 years, has enjoyed partnering with clients to create meaningful, positive change in their lives. My therapeutic approach is largely formed by attachment theory, and also draws from a combination of individual and systemic therapy models (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Bowenian, and family therapy). I also have specialized training in Trauma-Focused CBT. Licensed in the state of Florida. License # MT-3196
In our first session together, also called an "intake session," I will gather as much information from you as I can about the presenting problems you're experiencing, and background information/psychosocial history that provides context for the presenting issues you'd like to address. Lastly, we will work together to identify treatment goals.
I provide care that is both compassionate and practical. I believe it is important to both identify and address the root causes of problems, while also helping clients develop tangible skills and strategies they can start using right away, to help them reduce acute distress, and gain a sense of agency/empowerment. I take a very collaborative approach to therapy, and am transparent with my clients, happy to explain any aspect of the therapeutic process that may raise questions or doubts. I genuinely welcome questions and feedback.
As a wife and mother, I understand the complex challenges that family life brings. And as someone who’s walked through premature birth and had a child in the NICU, I am uniquely equipped for and passionate about this population. I also particularly love to work with clients on changing their relationships with themselves, food, and body image, and developing self-compassion. I find this work deeply meaningful and rewarding.
My therapeutic approach is to integrate several modalities into my practice, in order to tailor treatment for each individual client. The primary therapeutic models I draw from the most include: Family Systems Theories (such as Bowenian Family Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, and Contextual Family Therapy), Internal Family Systems Theory, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies, including Mindfulness-Based CBT, & Trauma-Focused CBT, and Attachment Theory/Psychodynamic Therapy.
My personal worldview is that of a Christian perspective, though I am happy to work with Christians and non-Christians alike. I do not impose Christian beliefs or values onto any clients, but am more than happy to incorporate Christian principles into therapy for the clients that explicitly request I do so.
Integrating the following modalities: Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy, Gottman Method, and Psychodynamic Couples Therapy
