Hello, my name is Katie and I am a licensed therapist in both California and Illinois. I received my Masters Degree in Clinical Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I have 13 years experience working with youth, adults, families and couples in a variety of settings. I welcome you to reach out to me with any questions you may have before getting started.
In our first session together, I will encourage you to share about yourself at a pace that feels comfortable for you. I also will welcome you to ask me any questions that allow you to get to know me and what to expect in our work together.
I provide a warm, relaxed and non-judgemental therapeutic setting to allow individuals to be seen and heard.
I enjoy supporting kids, teens and adults who are ready to step in to a phase of self growth and exploration.
I use the method of CBT with clients to help explore their thoughts, beliefs and attitudes and how effect your feelings and actions.
I use this approach to provide a safe and non-judgemental space to allow you to increase understanding and awareness of yourself and in relationship to others.
I provide mindfulness exercises such as meditation and guided imagery to allow you to calm the nervous system, detach from overwhelming thoughts and cultivate a more positive outlook.
For clients that are looking for shorter term work, I have experience with using Solution-Focused Therapy in order to help you set concrete goals for yourself and build positive momentum toward those goals.
