New to Grow
My name is Renea Slaughter, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and owner of Renew Your Mind LLC. I believe in meeting you where you are, walking with you along your path, and helping you learn to navigate experiences to live a life you desire. I care, create time and space for you, and help you explore those scary, sad, uncomfortable things so you’re not alone in your process. Healing is hard. You can try it alone or with me.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Your first session is an intake, where we briefly review your completed documentation, I ask necessary questions to clarify your experience from a holistic perspective, and we collaboratively set your treatment goals.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Judgment Free: I believe therapy is a place to deconstruct, explore, and gain insight into areas of life to grow. We’ve all done or experienced something we may regret or not quite understand. There is no room for judgment, only grace, understanding, and openness. Real: I’m an everyday person who understands I don’t know everything, admits when I’m wrong, and learns what is needed to grow. I know people, emotions, mindsets, healing, and growth. Evidence-Based: While treatment is tailored to you, it’s not being pulled out of a hat as we go. Each therapeutic modality, approach, or intervention is implemented strategically to assist in your treatment progression. Whether it’s Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Solution Focused Therapy, etc., each have been proven effective when implemented appropriately. At your pace: I can’t make you do anything and will never try to. A part of therapy is helping you reach your goal in a way that works best for you. I will help you deconstruct thoughts, emotions, and behaviors about circumstances. I will also provide safe, beneficial, and effective tools to help you make forward progress.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
The best clients are those who want to improve and come to sessions ready and willing to do the work.
Eclectic
I believe each person is unique; thus, I use an integrative approach. The most commonly utilized techniques come from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Exposure Therapy. I pride myself in remaining a culturally conscious, strength-based, Trauma-informed provider who provides psychoeducation throughout treatment.
Christian Counseling
When appropriate and agreed upon, I use Christian Counseling in processing difficulties through the lense of this faith and biblical scriptures. I assist clients in reconciling faith wounds and never push Christianity on anyone. I believe ones faith can be used as a tool for healing just as other treatment modalities.
