(she/her)
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 12 years of experience in the mental health field. I completed my Master's degree in Social Work at Smith College School for Social Work. I received training in an array of clinical interventions, including psychoanalytic approaches, Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). However, I am best known for my creative and flexible integration of skills, providing effective approaches tailored to each client. I appreciate that addressing life’s challenges can be uncomfortable, especially with someone you don’t know. I am committed to supporting you in your journey. If you are highly motivated to improve your relationship with yourself, and those around you, schedule an appointment with me today.
Clients can expect their first session with me to focus on getting to know them since I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most important part of therapy. Some examples of things we might discuss include their strengths, challenges, goals, supports, preferred activities, as well as their history with, and perception of, therapy.
As a clinician, I feel my greatest strengths are my realness, flexibility with approaches, commitment to your process, and prioritizing of the therapeutic relationship.
I work best with highly motivated clients who are aware of their goals, curious about their barriers, and open to collaboration. Individuals who are receptive to gentle-challenging and feedback coupled with compassion, validation, and encouragement, are a great match for my therapeutic style. I also thrive with clients who are interested in learning more about themselves and how they show up in each area of their lives.
EMDR
Although it is most well-known for its success with trauma, EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) can be an effective treatment for anyone. EMDR aligns well with my clinical orientation as I work with my patients to transition old patterns to healthy/adaptive ways of experiencing life and sense of self. Patients not wanting to talk about their past experiences find EMDR especially helpful.
Psychodynamic
My psychodynamic lens assists in understanding a person in context. This often includes exploration of how past and present relationships and experiences influence our patterns and perspectives.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
Typically, we seek out therapy because we want change. I have found that the DBT lens can be incredibly supportive for effective, long-lasting change. The better we understand why you engage in the habits you'd like to change, the more likely you are to outgrow those habits.
Integrative
Clinically, I am most well-known for my integrative approach. I am committed to working with you in a partnership to discover the most effective approach for you.
