About me

Thank you for stopping on my profile. I’m a simple person. As a therapist, I treasure every interaction. Most of my experience as a licensed counselor and working in mental and behavioral health has been working with children and adolescents - particularly those struggling to regulate emotions and manage behaviors. I believe the difference between working with young people versus people of any age is just stage of life. People develop over time but maturity -in itself- does not resolve impact from the ‘stuff’ they experience and carry throughout their lifetime. With that said, I don’t feel inclined to focus only on young people because at one point we were all young. In therapy, I’m a person who believes in the power of relationships. I tend to lean more heavily into the power of the connection than the style of treatment used. I’d be honored to meet you and get to know you but the bigger satisfaction in me would be knowing you found your fit. I wish you the best in your search.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I know first sessions can be awkward, so I’ll work to mitigate that. I will invite you to share what feels comfortable so I can learn about you. I’ll have questions but will be careful not to intimidate with them. You should lead. We will cover what to expect, confidentiality, and goals so we’re aligned from day one. But you matter most, start to finish.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Listing 'I listen' is a strength may seem odd considering I'm a therapist. But I do and I hope that's refreshing to hear. Also, I don't know if I'd call them strengths but more, they are extremely important factors to me are that 1. you feel safe and 2. we can build a positive relationship.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I’m interested in everyone and am eager to walk alongside anyone who will entrust their story to me. I do also feel and have felt inclined to work with people no one else wants to work with. I believe everyone deserves to have someone who won't judge them for past or current struggles. I will never consider myself to be perched above anyone. I'm human too. So, I find it easy to respect someone no matter what is shared.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

We will learn about and discuss how unhelpful thoughts factor into your functioning. We will work to improve thought patterns to remove the limitations of self-doubt and negative thinking. Your mind is powerful. It's a good idea to have some control over how it works. I believe I can help with that.

Integrative

I often lean into an integrate approach. I believe that as you grow, therapeutic needs may change, as well. With this in mind, we will always put your needs first and discuss any changes that may be needed. I like this approach because it allows us to utilize some strong tools across various methods to help you develop what you need to feel like all of this was a success.

Motivational Interviewing

This is how we work toward sustained growth. This method allows me to provide you with a non-judgmental space where you can be heard and respected. I'll use reflection, affirmations, open-ended questions to help you find your own reasons and motivations for change. We would collaborate along the way, and I'd maintain empathy to remove outside noise from hindering your opportunity to become authentically who you want to be.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I'll offer a safe-space where you can explore your own path while I empathetically listen deeply. I'm all about relationships and using this method will hopefully help you feel valued and truly understood. You'll set your pace, and I won't attempt to grab control. You were always meant to be the star. With this, you'll shine.

Trauma Informed Care

I understand that trauma shapes a lot of who we are. I'm sensitive to that and will ensure measures are in place to prepare you and support you while in session. We may use some grounding measures to remain oriented and will work to ensure you are not re-traumatized by any of the work we do.
