Nicole Naglich
Hi, I'm Nicole Naglich, FPA PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. My practice is focused on psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management for adults and adolescents experiencing depression, anxiety, mood disorders, substance use disorders, postpartum mental health concerns, and other behavioral health challenges. I believe medication management works best when it is a collaborative process. My role is to provide education, recommendations, and clinical expertise while working with patients to develop a treatment plan that aligns with their goals, symptoms, and lifestyle. I encourage open communication and want patients to feel comfortable discussing what is and is not working so we can make informed decisions together. I have extensive experience working with individuals in recovery from substance use disorders and those navigating major life stressors, relationship challenges, parenting demands, and mood symptoms. My approach is practical, transparent, and focused on helping patients achieve meaningful improvement in their daily functioning and overall quality of life. While I may incorporate brief supportive interventions and education during appointments, my primary focus is medication management rather than ongoing psychotherapy. Patients who would benefit from more intensive therapy are encouraged to work with a licensed therapist as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
First session
Many people feel nervous before their first psychiatric appointment, so I try to make the initial visit feel more like a conversation than an interview. My goal is to create a comfortable, judgment-free environment where you can share your concerns openly and at your own pace. During our first session, I'll spend time getting to know you as a whole person—not just your symptoms. We'll talk about what brought you to treatment, your current challenges, past mental health experiences, medical history, relationships, lifestyle, stressors, strengths, and goals. I believe that understanding the bigger picture helps me make more accurate recommendations and develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your individual needs. By the end of the appointment, we'll discuss my clinical impressions, treatment options, and whether medication may be helpful. My goal is for you to leave with a better understanding of what's going on, a clear plan moving forward, and the confidence that we're working together to support your mental health.
Strengths
My approach is centered on meeting people where they are. Some patients come to appointments knowing exactly what they want to discuss, while others are feeling overwhelmed and aren't sure where to start. I believe effective treatment begins with understanding each person's unique situation, goals, strengths, and challenges rather than focusing solely on symptoms or diagnoses. I strive to create a space where patients feel comfortable being honest, even when conversations are difficult. Sometimes that means sitting quietly and giving someone the time and space they need to process their thoughts. Other times, it means asking hard questions, challenging unhelpful patterns, or encouraging patients to consider perspectives they may not have explored. I believe growth often requires both support and accountability.
Ideal clients
I have extensive experience treating individuals in recovery from alcohol, opioid, stimulant, and polysubstance use disorders, including those utilizing medication-assisted treatment (MAT). I also enjoy working with women experiencing perinatal and postpartum mental health concerns, as well as individuals navigating relationship challenges, parenting stress, grief, and major life changes. My approach combines evidence-based medication management with practical, supportive interventions that help patients build stability, improve coping skills, and move toward long-term recovery and wellness.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
My primary role as a PMHNP is medication management and psychiatric treatment. I incorporate brief CBT-based and supportive therapy techniques to help patients address situational stressors, anxiety, depression, and everyday life challenges. Patients seeking ongoing, intensive psychotherapy may be referred to a therapist for specialized counseling services.
