LPC/MHSP, 14 years of experience
New to Grow
Hi, I am Shayla Robinson, LPC-MHSP. With nearly 15 years working in the field as a therapist, I know that reaching out for therapy takes courage, and I’m here to offer a space where you can feel comfortable, supported, and truly heard. My goal is to help you navigate life’s challenges, build on your strengths, and move toward the version of yourself you want to be. In our work together, I use an integrated approach that draws from different types of therapy depending on your needs. With Solution-Focused Therapy, we’ll focus on what’s already working and build practical steps toward your goals. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I’ll help you notice and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that may be holding you back. My Person-Centered approach means our sessions are guided by empathy and respect—this is your space to be open and explore freely. I also bring in Culturally Sensitive and Trauma-Informed practices, honoring your unique background and experiences while making sure our work together feels safe and empowering. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, life transitions, relationship stress, or just trying to find your balance again, I’m here to support you every step of the way.
Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and start building a foundation of trust. We’ll begin with a brief intake to review some background information and talk about what’s bringing you to therapy at this time. I’ll also share a little about who I am, my approach to therapy, and what you can expect from our work together. This time is really about you—I want to hear your story, understand your goals, and learn how I can best support you as we move forward.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my appreciation for cultural diversity and my ability to create a space where clients feel safe to come as they are. I take a person-centered approach, allowing each session to flow naturally based on what’s most present for you that day. I don’t come in with an agenda—I believe the best work happens when we meet you where you are. I often integrate solution-focused interventions to help you identify your strengths, find clarity, and move toward the changes you want to see, all while honoring your unique background, pace, and experiences.
I enjoy working with individuals who are ready to make meaningful changes and are seeking a safe, supportive space to process their thoughts and emotions. You don’t have to have everything figured out—what matters most is your willingness to show up, be open, and take steps toward healing and growth at your own pace.
I use Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients identify their strengths and build on what’s already working in their lives. In sessions, I guide clients toward setting achievable goals and developing practical strategies to create meaningful change.
I use a Person-Centered approach by creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and valued. This allows clients to explore their experiences freely and move toward personal growth and self-acceptance at their own pace.
I incorporate CBT by helping clients recognize and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to distress. Together, we work on developing healthier coping skills and replacing negative thinking with more balanced perspectives.
I integrate Culturally Sensitive Therapy by honoring each client’s cultural identity, values, and lived experiences. I ensure interventions are respectful and relevant to their background, fostering trust and understanding in the therapeutic relationship.
I apply a Trauma-Informed approach by prioritizing safety, empowerment, and choice in the therapeutic process. I recognize the impact of past trauma and tailor interventions to avoid re-traumatization while supporting healing and resilience.
