Hey there and welcome! I want to take a moment to introduce myself, I'm Nicole. I'm a parent of two school aged children. I have two dogs and a cat, I love animals. It's an important step for your process to stop and search for a therapist that meets your needs. I know it can be overwhelming to weed through all these bio's and profiles. So, thank you for stopping to read. I am going to explain in parts my credentials and what it mean for you in the therapy space. Here we go, I have been working with children, individuals, and families for over 15 years. I am passionate about connecting with people and understanding what is important to them. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Graduated from Bryn Mawr College in 2009 with my Masters in Social Work. Which just means that I work with the whole person the biological, psychological, and social aspects that makes us unique individuals. My training helps me to understand the person in their environment and meeting people where they are in their process.
In our first session together, I just try to get an understanding of what is bringing you to therapy. I like to get a picture of who you are and what is bringing you the therapy space. Your thinking about what to expect when we meet for the first time, so let me tell you a little bit about that. If you decide to move forward to schedule you will be sent some information to fill out if you are able to before the first session. Those forms just help me get an understanding of what is going on for you. The first appointment we don't deep dive into anything just get a sense of surface level concerns. It would help me to know one or two goals that you would like to address in our time together. I will ask about your coping skills, which just means what do you do when your feelings get big or things feel out of control. I welcome question you have about the therapy space, feel free to ask me questions. Its important to have a great working relationship and that this space is a great fit for you.
And of course my strengths in the therapy space are that, I use a strengths based and solution focused approach to therapy. I have been trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Traumatic Art Narrative Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Laughter Yoga. I use motivational interviewing and mindfulness techniques in my practice. Ok, so what you just read meant that I am passionate about helping people heal and thrive. I will take a tailored approach to you and what you need from the therapy space. I want you to feel heard and that your experience matters! I look forward to connecting with you! Feel free to set up a consultation or reach out with questions!
