LISW, 4 years of experience
My name is Tanice and as a licensed therapist, I enjoy helping people improve their mental health in a safe, non-judgmental space. I believe people deserve a space where they can be listened to and receive the support they need. Therapy with me is usually a mixture of conversation, skill-building, and challenging old patterns in supportive ways. I help people to build resilience and take steps to create the life they desire.
During an initial session, we'll do introductions and talk about what you're experiencing that led you to seek therapy. We'll come with a personalized plan to make any changes you desire based on what you're seeking support for.
I utilize a collaborative, person-centered approach. I will meet you where you are emotionally and we can work from there. I can be a source of support if you need someone to talk to, and we can work on solutions for difficulties you might be having.
Do you feel anxious, sad, or overwhelmed? Have you experienced heavy experiences in your past? Are your feelings having a negative impact on your life? Most of my clients describe experiencing anxiety, depression, and/or trauma. My goal is to collaborate with clients to help them reach their goals, including learning to apply coping skills or working through life transitions.
Our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected. I primarily utilize CBT methods to help identify and combat negative thoughts patterns.
I use DBT-informed therapy, which means I bring in skills and ideas from DBT, such as improving emotion regulation for intense, overwhelming emotions or learning to have more effective relationships.
EMDR is a therapy approach that uses bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements) to help people heal from difficult or overwhelming experiences, including traumatic incidents. EMDR helps the brain reprocess difficult memories so they feel less distressing. I utilize EMDR with clients who are looking to cope with traumatic or difficult memories from their past that are still impacting the present.
I use Solution Focused Brief Treatment to identify changes you'd like to make in your life and steps you can take to get there. It's a short-term, goal-directed model focused on building solutions.
