Great to meet you! I'm Dawn, and I'm so pleased and grateful to have been a behavioral health professional for over 30 years. Being invited to share someone's journey in self-exploration, healing, and personal and professional growth is truly a privilege. All of us walk through tough times in life and can benefit from a supportive therapy experience. You can count on me to listen to your concerns with a commitment to partner with you to find solutions that are empowering to you and help move you forward.
When we meet, you'll find that I'm genuinely curious about you, your unique story, and what has brought you into therapy. My role is to create a safe space for you to tell your story and to answer any questions about the therapy process you may have. We'll set some initial and longer term goals together, and then we'll get to work!
I've found that an emphasis on my clients' strengths and opportunities to empower themselves is effective in promoting clients' ability to move forward to achieving their goals. I honor and celebrate diversity. Empathy, humor, acceptance, respect, and honesty are all core values in my practice and in my relationships.
I've found that using CBT approaches support clients in developing greater awareness of their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors, allowing us to partner effectively to improve quality of life.
I use Reality Therapy to help clients hone in on what they want for themselves and in their relationships. It's an empowering approach that focuses on present-day choices rather than events of the past.
