Hello! I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. I received my master's degree in nursing from Walden University. I also have a bachelor's degree in psychology from University of South Florida. I have been practicing for 2 years as a mental health provider. I have over 10 years of experience as a psychiatric nurse in an inpatient setting providing compassionate care to individuals during periods of severe distress in their lives. From the outset of my career, I was driven by a deep-seated passion to make a tangible difference in the lives of those suffering silently. The stigma surrounding mental health often prevents people from seeking the help they need, and I aspired to be a beacon of hope in this often-overlooked field. Working with adults, I’ve encountered a spectrum of mental health issues—depression, anxiety, trauma, and more. Each case is a unique story of pain and resilience. My role is not just to treat symptoms but to understand the person behind them. It's about fostering a therapeutic alliance built on trust, empathy, and mutual respect.
During our initial psychiatric evaluation, we will cover several important areas to understand your mental health needs and formulate an appropriate treatment plan. Here's what you can expect: Personal History: We'll discuss your background, including any significant life events, relationships, and family history of mental health issues. Medical History: It's important to review your medical history, including any past or current medical conditions, surgeries, and medications you are taking. Mental Health History: We'll talk about your mental health history, such as any previous diagnoses, treatments, hospitalizations, and experiences with therapy or counseling. Current Symptoms: A detailed discussion of the symptoms you are currently experiencing, including their duration, intensity, and any triggers. Lifestyle Factors: We'll look into your daily routines, such as sleep patterns, diet, exercise, substance use, and other habits that might impact your mental health. Social and Occupational Functioning: We'll assess how your symptoms are affecting your daily life, relationships, work, or school performance. Risk Assessment: It's crucial to discuss any thoughts of self-harm, suicidal ideation, or harm to others to ensure your safety and well-being. Goals for Treatment: We'll set some initial goals and discuss your expectations and preferences for treatment. This comprehensive evaluation helps create a tailored treatment plan that addresses your specific needs. My aim is to make this process as comfortable and supportive as possible. Is there anything specific you'd like to focus on during your initial evaluation?
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is witnessing transformation. I recall a client who, initially burdened with severe anxiety and unable to leave their home, now thrives in a new job and enjoys social gatherings. Such success stories are not just victories for my clients but for the entire mental health community. Every client is unique. I customize my approach to fit their specific needs. I have a strong commitment to providing personalized care. Mental health progress can be slow and nonlinear. With that being said, I remain patient and persistent while supporting clients through the ups and downs.
I am excited to work with adults and the elderly who are struggling with symptoms of depression and anxiety which often comes with various life-changing experiences. Depression and anxiety can hinder personal growth by instilling fear and stagnation. In the heart of every community lies the unseen struggles of many individuals grappling with mental health challenges. My journey as a mental health provider has been one of profound discovery, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to helping adults navigate their paths to wellness. My goal is to help adults thrive in their careers, as well as, in their personal lives.
Your mental wellbeing is of the utmost importance to me. I provide care putting your needs first. We will discuss ways you can show yourself compassion and kindness in order to reach optimal outcomes in your mental health journey. We will talk about motivation and resource seeking to improve your drive. We will also discuss healthy coping skills and self-soothing techniques to provide reassurance and increase confidence. We will also discuss ways to detect triggers to help protect your peace of mind.
We will focus primarily on medication management; however, a great source of support is just as important as pharmacological treatment. I support treatment through active listening, giving you the opportunity to express your feelings and thoughts. During follow-up appointments, we will evaluate the effectiveness of treatment with a key focus on your feedback. You have a voice in your treatment.
