New to Grow
Hi! My name is Haley. I am a licensed Mental Health, Marriage and Family Therapist. I hope to provide a safe, comfortable space where we can build trust and rapport. I believe in a client-centered approach to therapy, taking each client and each session individually. I have an eclectic approach to therapy which allows me to tailor your treatment to your specific needs.
The first session is an opportunity for the client to share their story and discuss goals for therapy. In the first session, I would like to review guidelines for confidentiality and the therapeutic approach. It's normal to feel nervous in the first session, but I will be there to walk through it with you.
From an early age, I was told I was a good listener, and I've always enjoyed helping others. I love being a therapist and assisting people along their journey.
I typically work with individuals or couples 18 and older with concerns ranging from anxiety and depression to trauma and PTSD. With couples, my goal is typically to help you get out of "enemy" territory by increase moments of connection and decreasing obstacles or distractions. In individual therapy my goal is to build a collaborative relationship to set long-term and short-term goals for our time together. I believe in keeping goals flexible to allow room for adjusting them as needed.
CBT is one of the techniques I use with my clients. I have been pulling tools and techniques from CBT for the past 15 years of client centered help. CBT techniques help an individual understand the relationship between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors and encourages addressing maladaptive thought patterns to increase emotion regulation and problem solving skills.
DBT is one of the techniques I use with my clients. I have been pulling tools and techniques from DBT for the past 15 years of client centered help. DBT techniques help an individual understand the relationship between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors and encourages self soothing techniques, understanding a healthier relationship with your emotions and incorporating positive outlets like mindfulness, breathing, and positive interpersonal relationships
Perso-centered therapy is one of the therapies I use with my clients. THis approach allows the client to be more in a lead positiion with choosing whst they would like to focus on in session. Often times a client just needs a safe space to process out loud and come to their own conclusions. This approach combined with CBT and DBT looks like me as the therapist allowing my client to take the lead and then incorporating tools and techniques that may help assist the client in their journey. I am willing to be as engaged or take more of an active listening position, whatever is needed or desired.
