New to Grow
My name is Mary Elizabeth Teem. I have an MS in mental health counseling and a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. I have 10 years of experience in counseling and hold a LPC in the state of Georgia. I grew up in Atlanta and have lived in Alabama and Louisiana. I have two dogs and a cat, and an adopted son who is now grown. I own Harbor's Rest Counseling, LLC and look forward to working with you.
Our first session is about getting to know you. We will discuss what brought you to therapy as well as your expectations and goals. I believe we each have a story to tell and learning yours is the first step toward you gaining power to write your own ending.
I provide a safe space dedicated to supporting your mental health journey. Whether you're navigating through life's challenges or seeking personal growth, or struggling with Eating Disorder Recovery, I am here to walk with you every step of the way providing the guidance, understanding, and tools you need to thrive.
My ideal client is one who comes with an open mind. You may not know anything about counseling or you may have tried it before, but, as long as you are open, we can work together toward change. Ideally, clients come in wanting to change. You may not know exactly what is wrong, and that's ok. Just knowing you want something in your life to look different than it currently does is enough to get started.

Narrative
I believe we all have a story and that we are all connected to one another through our stories. We have the power, with the right tools, to take hold of our narrative and write our own story moving forward. It is my job to give you the tools you will need to write your own story.
