(she/her)
Maybe you are the person who overthinks everything, puts too much pressure on yourself, or spends so much time taking care of everyone else that you are not even sure what you need anymore. Or maybe you are trying to support a child or teen whose anxiety, big emotions, ADHD, or autism impacts school, relationships, or everyday life. I'm Jaleesa, a therapist who works with children, teens, and adults navigating anxiety, neurodivergence, perfectionism, people-pleasing, and difficult life experiences. My approach is warm, collaborative, and neurodivergent-affirming. Therapy with me is a space to better understand yourself, build practical tools, and explore what may be underneath the patterns that keep showing up. You do not have to come to therapy with the perfect words or even know exactly where to start. We can get curious about it together.
Our first session is really about getting to know you. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, what has been feeling difficult, and what you hope could feel different. I may ask questions about your history, relationships, school or work, and the patterns you have noticed in your life. You do not have to tell me everything at once. Together, we'll begin identifying goals that actually fit your needs and your life.
Authenticity is at the center of how I show up as a therapist. I provide gentle, supportive care while also being willing to challenge you when it may help you grow, reflect, or see a pattern differently. I encourage self-reflection and developing greater insight into your emotions, experiences, and the patterns that may be showing up in your life. My hope is that therapy becomes a space where you feel encouraged to better understand yourself and feel more comfortable being authentically you. I also bring a culturally responsive and affirming approach to therapy. I value the different identities, backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives my clients bring into the room and work to create a space where those parts of you are respected and welcomed.
I work especially well with anxious overthinkers, perfectionists, people-pleasers, and clients who are exhausted from putting pressure on themselves to get everything "right." I also specialize in supporting children, teens, and adults with ADHD and autism through a neurodivergent-affirming lens. This may include emotional regulation, executive functioning struggles, masking, school anxiety, social worries, burnout, or feeling like everyday tasks seem harder than they "should." Many of my clients know something is not working, but they have a hard time explaining exactly what is wrong. You do not need to have it all figured out before starting therapy. We can start with what you do know and get curious about the rest together.
