LPC15 years of experience

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, and substance use concerns. I have a passion for working with adolescents and adults who feel stuck—whether they're caught in cycles of unhelpful habits, struggling with ineffective coping skills, navigating unhealthy or unfulfilling relationships, or simply unsure of where to go next in life. I believe everyone has the capacity for change and deserves the opportunity to experience happiness, fulfillment, and balance in life. Sometimes, we just need a little help finding our way there. Using a strength-based, solution-focused approach, I work collaboratively with clients to navigate life's challenges, develop healthier patterns, and create meaningful change. My goal is to help clients recognize their own strengths, build confidence and self-esteem, and develop healthier relationships with themselves and others.

Helping Teens and Adults Find Their Strengths, Break Unhelpful Patterns, and Move Forward

I recognize that faith and spirituality can be important sources of strength, hope, and guidance. For clients who are interested, I offer a faith-integrated counseling approach that incorporates Christian perspectives in a way that aligns with their personal beliefs, values, and therapeutic goals.

First session

During our first session, my focus is on getting to know you. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you're hoping to gain from the experience, and the unique experiences that have shaped who you are. I'll ask questions about your family history, current challenges, and symptoms to help me better understand your story and what support might be most helpful. Most importantly, my goal is to begin building a therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, understood, and validated. I want you to leave our first session feeling comfortable, respected, and hopeful about the work we can do together.

Strengths

My experience as a high school counselor in a small, independent school has given me valuable insight into the unique challenges adolescents face, particularly when navigating ADHD, executive functioning, emotional regulation, and self-advocacy. I enjoy helping teens better understand how their brains work, recognize their strengths, and develop practical strategies they can apply in their everyday lives. My approach combines compassion and understanding with practical, goal-oriented strategies that encourage clients to take an active role in their growth. As a wife and mother of three, I also appreciate the complexities of balancing relationships, parenting, and personal well-being. I enjoy helping individuals, couples, and families strengthen communication, establish healthy boundaries, and develop more fulfilling relationships. I believe meaningful change happens when clients feel understood, recognize their own strengths, and have the tools and support to put that growth into practice.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is someone who feels stuck, overwhelmed, or at an impasse in life and knows something needs to change but isn't quite sure where to start. They may be struggling with patterns of thinking or behaviors that are holding them back, feeling weighed down by anxiety, or simply unsure of their next steps. Whether you're ready to make changes or still working toward finding the motivation and confidence to take that first step, I want to meet you where you are. Using principles of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and exposure and response prevention (ERP), I help clients better understand the thoughts, behaviors, and experiences contributing to their struggles while developing practical tools to create meaningful change. My approach is goal-oriented and collaborative, with an emphasis on applying what we learn in sessions to everyday life. Through skill-building, intentional practice, and activities between sessions, I aim to empower clients to take an active role in their growth, build confidence in themselves, and feel more equipped to navigate life's challenges.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach based on the understanding that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. The way we interpret situations can influence how we feel and respond. I use CBT to help clients recognize and understand these patterns, identify unhelpful or inaccurate thought processes, and develop healthier, more effective ways of thinking and behaving. Through techniques such as cognitive restructuring, behavioral strategies, and practical skill-building, clients learn to challenge negative thought patterns, change behaviors that may be keeping them stuck, and develop tools to better manage everyday stressors and challenges.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach commonly used to treat anxiety-related conditions. ERP works by gradually helping clients face the thoughts, situations, images, or triggers that cause distress. Through this process, clients learn that they can tolerate uncomfortable thoughts and feelings without relying on behaviors that temporarily relieve anxiety but ultimately reinforce the cycle. Over time, ERP helps clients build confidence in their ability to manage uncertainty, tolerate distress, and regain control over the things that matter most in their lives.

Strength-Based

Strength-based therapy is an approach that focuses on identifying and building upon a client's existing strengths, abilities, resources, and resilience rather than focusing solely on problems or limitations. In sessions, I help clients identify their personal strengths, recognize past successes, and explore how they can use those resources to navigate current challenges. By shifting the focus from what is going wrong to what is possible, clients can build confidence, develop a greater sense of self-efficacy, and recognize their ability to create meaningful change in their lives.
