PMHNP, 2 years of experience
My name is Wellington Georgiou, and I am board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). I hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology and am currently licensed in California. My practice encompasses a diverse range of psychiatric conditions, including depression disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD, trauma, insomnia, and others. Despite my limited experience as a PMHNP (under two years), my ten year background as a registered nurse in the Trauma/Burn/Surgical ICU, Cardiac Intermediate Care Unit, and Primary Care has provided me with a unique perspective on holistic patient care. I have had the privilege of working with patients and their families during challenging times and have witnessed their progress and growth. As a nurse, you have the privilege of assisting numerous patients from diverse backgrounds to navigate challenging periods in their lives. My primary objective is to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable expressing their authentic selves. I believe that establishing a collaborative partnership is the foundation for understanding your goals and developing a tailored plan to achieve them. I am committed to engaging in open dialogue, addressing challenging ideas or thoughts that may hinder your progress, and fostering a collaborative relationship.
During the initial session, an amiable and receptive atmosphere will prevail as we establish rapport. My objective is to gain a comprehensive understanding of the challenges you are currently encountering and for us determine the most effective course of action to support you. At the end of our first session, we will collaboratively develop a treatment plan that is aligned with your objectives.
It has been said that my greatest strengths lie in my ability to actively listen to others, ensuring that they feel valued and respected. Additionally, I am adept at respectfully challenging narratives or ideas that may hinder personal growth and healing. My compassionate nature stems from the belief that no individual is without flaws. We all possess imperfections that we aspire to improve, and I am committed to assisting you in achieving your mental health objectives.
I am uniquely suited to serve a diverse adult clientele, encompassing various socioeconomic backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, and intersectional groups. My commitment is to provide compassionate and respectful care to all individuals with whom I interact. I firmly believe in challenging ourselves to become the best versions of ourselves. Throughout my adult life, I’ve been in therapy, and the most significant growth I’ve experienced was when my therapist pushed me to confront my thoughts and behaviors. I won’t impose my feelings or views on you, but I’ll gently challenge any thoughts, ideas, or behaviors that don’t align with your values or goals. This will never be done in a disrespectful manner; it’s all about helping you progress towards your objectives. I genuinely value open, honest, and direct communication between us, without me projecting my feelings onto you. If you’re ready to push yourself to be the best version of yourself, with your own goals in mind, let’s team up!
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is all about giving you the tools to help you identify, challenge, and change those ineffectual thought patterns that hold you back. By adopting this approach, you will enhance your ability to manage challenging situations by adopting a more realistic and beneficial mindset. This will contribute to your overall well-being.
ACT is all about boosting your psychological flexibility. It’s about being open to your emotions and being able to change your thoughts and actions to fit your values and goals. We can create tools that help you accept the things we can’t change and work on the things we can. Sometimes, things don’t change overnight, and learning coping skills can make tough times easier to handle.
Psychodynamic therapy is a deep dive into the mind via talk therapy, based on the theories of psychoanalysis. The goal is to help you feel better and have more self-confidence. We want you to use your talents and abilities more, and to build better relationships.

I came to Wellington after over a decade of therapy and psychiatric treatment, and I’ve been extraordinarily impressed by his ability to intuit what’s going on with me. I feel deeply understood in a way I rarely have. My experience has been that psychiatry often misses my full context. Wellington doesn’t. He’s deeply curious, genuinely caring and brings a structured, detail-oriented approach that transcends modality and that, I sense, will make the most of resources available to me.
