Hello! My name is Donyell Davis and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Texas. I earned my Master’s in Social Work with a focus on Services to Children and Families from Our Lady of the Lakes University. I have 14 years of experience in the social work field working with diverse populations. My clients often describe me as empathetic, compassionate, and attentive. I pride myself on being an open-minded lifelong learner with a keen interest in evidence-based practice interventions. I chose to become a therapist because I discovered that blending the heart of a social worker with the professional skill set of an effective therapist profoundly enhances individuals’ quality of life. What sets me apart is my collaborative approach: we embark on this journey together to develop a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs, without rushing the process. I enjoy working through issues that I have personally experienced like being a single parent, losing a spouse and the affects it has on the family system, raising a child with a disability, work-life balance, unhealthy relationships, lack of a support system, absence of a positive role model early in life, navigating life challenges, obtaining personal growth, and communication skills.

Hello, I am an LCSW and have been in practice for 30+ years. I have worked in multiple settings and have learned that no one goes through life without challenges. Sometimes those challenges become overwhelming, and we find ourselves full of anger, fear, anxiety, confusion or deep sadness. You are not alone in this. If you are seeking therapy for the first time or have been in therapy before, please know that this is a safe place for you. All of us want to find a place of peace and joy in our life, but sometimes it feels like we are lost in a forest. I want to help you find your way out of that, to recognize your own path. I have a strong belief that we are in a constant state of change and adaptation in life and the secret is to realize and own our personal power. Peace is accomplished through balance, boundaries and new beginnings; those three work together and empower you. I look forward to helping you begin this next step of your journey and to find your power in that.

Hello and thank you for taking a chance on therapy, reaching out is one of the hardest parts and you are taking the first step. Finding a fitting therapist is a big part of your success in therapy, so if it does not initially work out, remember you can find a suitable option. Our initial meeting will be a 15-minute consultation to ensure we are compatible for each other to maximize your therapeutic experience. I am a Texas State University graduate. I have experience in multiple settings including schools, hospitals, inpatient treatment facilities, and group practices. This has allowed me to work with diverse humans and engage many different therapeutic styles. I have a passion for creating space for my community of color, ADHD, parents, and LGBTQIA. I support adolescents, adults, and parent clients. Outside of the office, I spend a lot of time in nature as this is a healing place for me that I like to encourage others to consider as a therapeutic tool. My immediate family consists of my wife, 2 kiddos, and lots of pets. We spend time together hiking/exploring nature, joining city-wide events, finding new parks to play and walk the dogs, and cooking new recipes. I am a second career social worker, who graduated with my MSW in 2014 and my Ph.D. in 2019, both from the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work. I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, but have lived in the Houston area for 30+ years. I decided to become a social worker because of my personal experiences raising a child with behavioral health issues and experiencing profound loss following the sudden death of my husband. My goals were to help others the way my own family had been helped, but I also hoped to improve the experiences of others with similar lived experiences but less positive outcomes. I have worked in a variety of settings, including West Oaks Hospital (a specialty psychiatric hospital) and its affiliated outpatient settings, where I provided individual, group, and family therapy to adults and adolescents experiencing significant mental health crises. I have also worked in home hospice care, assisting individuals and families with both pre-bereavement and post-bereavement support, and where I facilitated online support groups for caregivers and for individuals experiencing grief and bereavement. In addition to my private practice, I am an adjunct professor at the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work, and I frequently consult with immigration lawyers about the ways in which mental health issues may impact the path to asylum or citizenship. Although I do not consider myself to be a trauma specialist, I do practice with a trauma-informed style and am always conscious of the ways in which trauma impacts the lives and experiences of individuals in all walks of life. I have experience working with people who live with ADHD, anxiety, autism, depression, and mood disorders generally. My goal is always to support my clients in achieving their own goals for a happier and healthier life.

Hello, I was born and raised in Stockton, California. I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 and in 1997, after 25 yeas of service, I retired from the Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Marine Corps, I worked as a Farrier (Horseshoer), as well as a structural welder (Ironworker), as those were the most marketable skill that I had. I came to a point where old injuries came back to haunt me and I could no longer walk (several years later, thanks to a surgery through the VA, I can walk again; thankful for that). At this point, I changed professions and out of a desire to work with veterans, I returned to school, accomplishing all that was necessary to become a licensed counselor. I spent another career working for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically as a counselor in the Readjustment Counseling Service (Vet Center). I recently retired from the Vet Center and now I work part-time here with Grow Therapy. As a retired Marine senior staff Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) and disabled combat veteran myself, the Vet Center was the perfect job. Vet Centers provide readjustment counseling to combat veterans and provide counseling to survivors of military sexual trauma (MST). Vet Centers also provide group counseling, bereavement counseling and couples counseling when this is determined to be of support to the veteran. Readjustment counseling many times consists of treating/addressing symptoms related to post-traumatic stress (PTSD), I.e., anxiety, depression, exaggerated startle response, hypervigilance, sleep disturbance, etc. Many veterans go on to work as first responders and working with many first responders as well as medical personal, has provided me with a great deal of additional experience.

Have you ever looked at your reflection and wondered who you are? Do you ever feel lost or wonder where you are headed? CONFESSION -- I have. I realized later in life that my calling was to become a therapist. I received on-the-job training, long before I went to college, through my own experiences as a mother, wife, friend, colleague, and personally, as an individual with depression and anxiety. These experiences helped prepare me for my role as a therapist. My own struggles have enabled me to better connect with my clients. Just like my clients, I looked for a therapist to talk to, one who would listen and understand where I was coming from. Finding a therapist can be a challenge. The challenge involves talking to a complete stranger about your life while discussing some of the hardest times of your life. From personal experience, I know the gains that can be made in therapy and the road to self-discovery. Treatment Focus I have experience working with a wide variety of populations and specialize in helping adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and bipolar disorder. My primary approach in working with clients tends to be person-centered along with cognitive behavioral therapy. Core beliefs are areas of focus I encourage clients to explore. Oftentimes, individuals may not recognize how their thinking patterns have affected numerous areas in their life. I help clients to conceptualize the life that they want and consider the action steps to make that life happen. Yes, therapy can take time and effort, but if the payoff is discovering the best version of yourself, then is it not worth it? Patient Promise One thing that I can ensure, is that I will provide a safe space for you to discover beliefs. Beliefs that you may have about yourself and the world around you. I am passionate about helping individuals explore who they are and what they want. If you are ready to begin this journey, I would be honored to work with you.

You have many choices when it comes to picking a counselor/therapist, but what is the most important thing to consider when choosing? Does the person appear to be kind? Do they have the qualifications to serve you? Does he/she make you feel comfortable and ease the anxiety you might be feeling regarding sharing such personal information so quickly? How does the office environment feel (telehealth or in the office)? More importantly, how quickly do you feel your exact problem is being addressed?

I feel that clients shouldn't have to be in therapy forever! While co-creating this process with you, I strive to balance my active listening with imparting active, hands-on techniques to help you reclaim your narrative and overcome obstacles in your path. I feel it's about more water rather than less soda, so to speak, and take both a clinical and holistic approach to helping you enhance alignment and experience deeper fulfillment in your journey. Along with my LCSW, I am trained in EMDR, certified in Theta Healing, Reiki, Transformational Life Coaching, and Therapeutic Touch, and Master Practitioner certified in Neuro Linguistic Programming, Hypnotherapy, and Time Line Therapy. I feel I provide a safe space where shame and judgements are left at the door, and we will explore your wants, needs, and feelings with curiosity and compassion. I feel it's very much a co-created process, as you know more about you than I ever will. The work is also far more about our uncovering your truth than you adopting mine. With that said, I have a wide array of modalities and approaches I feel I have quite dialed in, and we can collaboratively determine which tools and approaches best suit your needs. My hope is that our work together will help you feel not only hear and validated, but also empowered and aware of how to eat the elephant on your own going forward. I see this work as us walking side by side, with you gradually taking the lead with me supportively in your corner. If you have something pressing you wish to discuss in session, that will always take precedence. My job is ultimately to actively listen and hold space. With that said, if that's all I was doing, you'd inevitably say, "Robby, you're a nice guy. But I don't know how much we're actually getting done." To that end, I feel it's far more important to determine HOW you think rather than WHAT you think. So it tends to be important for us to explore unconscious limiting beliefs and emotions along with the conscious. You can also expect to learn clear and concise action steps (ranging from mindfulness exercises to creative writing prompts to holistic practices like meditation and breathwork) to help you regulate your emotions and reclaim your narrative. I feel that many people are hesitant to engage in therapy because they perceive a stigma tied to seeking support. After all, the notion of "mentally ill" does have a negative connotation. The way I see it, though the process is not about fixing a broken thing, but rather enhancing one's alignment and fulfillment (and okay, yes, also confronting obstacles to those pieces). But if the focus is on "Where am I trying to get to and how will I know that I got there?" where our work is to simply close the gap between here and there, it can help us leave shame and judgements at the door, and perhaps even enable you to look forward to increased awareness and empowerment in your journey forward.

English / Español / Português My career has been focused on working with the families of teenagers. Though my online practice is limited to working with adults individually, the issues of parenting and family conflict continue to interest me deeply. I am also quite interested in the emotional challenges related to immigration, and much of my work has been with immigrant families from Latin America. Furthermore, as I age, I have become increasingly interested in working with older adults.

Hi. I'm Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been providing psychotherapy services to diverse populations throughout my career. In my 40+ year career, I've served on, community organization and mental heath boards of directors, been program and clinical director of psychiatric residential centers, staff therapist and clinical directors of community mental health centers up to my retirement. Since retirement I maintain an online only therapy practice that specialized in helping younger and middle age adults, couples and parents facing a variety of challenges ranging from self esteem, significant life changes, addictive habits and behaviors, work and career, relationship struggles and other life circumstances causing emotional distress. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a therapeutic approach to address , blocks and barriers standing in the way of fully expressing ones spiritual nature to help begin to restore balance between mind body and spirits and improve one's quality of relationships and life. Hello! I am a licensed clinical social worker helping individuals in the states of Illinois, Texas, and South Carolina. My experience includes working with families who have experienced abuse, neglect, and court issues. I have also worked as a hospice social worker. My role was to support families, provide education related to the end-of-life process, and support families as they prepare to say goodbye to those they love. I have also worked in public schools providing assessments/evaluations for students who might be struggling in an academic setting, preparing IEPs, providing classroom social-emotional education, and individual social work services to students who might be experiencing difficulties with peer relationships, bullying, anger, anxiety, and many other issues that can impact a student's ability to learn and flourish in an educational setting. I have been in private practice for several years, serving children and adults experiencing challenges related to depression, anxiety, relationships, and grief. Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) is a major component of my treatment approach. This is an evidence-based treatment approach that provides client-specific tools and interventions. Together, we will identify triggers and learn ways to reduce the physical and mental symptoms you might be experiencing. I was raised in a military family and have lived in multiple states, and while that often came with some adjustments, it also brought so many new opportunities to learn about community, culture, and forge new relationships.

Thank you for taking the first step of courage and making yourself a priority today. Opening yourself up and being vulnerable can be a tremendous step to your healing process. As Brene Brown says, “Vulnerability is not winning or losing, it’s having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome.” You are showing up for yourself today! Although the first steps can be overwhelming, I can walk with you and help guide you on the journey of healing and peace. I will always provide a safe space of acceptance and non-judgement for you to share your emotional pain, grow to love and be kind to yourself, and find the peace you deserve to heal. Remember that you are worthy and deserving of being free of the emotional pain you are experiencing. Be kind to yourself. **If you are viewing my profile for your child (3-17 years of age), I provide a calming and accepting space to assist with regulating your child's emotions. If your child is experiencing symptoms of anxiety, ADHD or difficulty focusing due to inattention or hyperactivity, or your child is lacking motivation and seems more irritable and angrier than usual, I can teach your child coping skills and strategies.
