Sarah Henderson
My approach to therapy is person-centered and strengths-based, which means I strive to meet you where you are and tailor treatment to your individual needs and goals. I often incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques to help clients develop practical coping skills, improve emotional well-being, and navigate life's challenges more effectively. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, life transitions, or simply feeling stuck, I aim to provide a safe and supportive space where you can feel heard and understood. Together, we can explore what's getting in the way, build healthy coping strategies, and work toward the changes that are important to you.I am committed to providing culturally responsive and inclusive care and welcome individuals from all backgrounds, identities, and life experiences. I enjoy working with people across the lifespan and am open to supporting diverse populations. I value creating a therapeutic space where clients feel respected, accepted, and understood, and I recognize the importance of considering cultural, social, and personal factors that shape each individual's experience.
First session
In the first session, clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free space to share what brings them to therapy. We’ll get to know each other, discuss their concerns and goals, and begin identifying areas they would like to work on. I’ll also explain what they can expect from therapy and answer any questions they may have. My goal is for clients to leave feeling heard, understood, and hopeful about the process.
Strengths
I bring a supportive, helpful, and empowering approach to my sessions. I use evidence-based approaches to help clients work toward their goals while tailoring treatment to their individual needs. I strive to create a safe and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make positive changes in their lives.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is open to support and ready to work toward positive change. I enjoy working with individuals who may be navigating stress, anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, or self-esteem concerns. I value working collaboratively with clients who want to better understand themselves, build confidence, develop healthy coping skills, and feel more empowered in their lives.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify patterns of thinking that may be contributing to distress and work on developing healthier, more balanced perspectives. I also help clients build practical coping skills they can use outside of sessions to manage challenges and work toward their goals. My approach is collaborative and empowering, with an emphasis on helping clients develop skills they can carry with them beyond therapy.
