I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in private practice with over 8 years of professional experience working across a variety of settings, including acute mental health, chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, PTSD and family therapy. I enjoy working with adults of all ages and have experience working in inpatient and outpatient settings as well as individual and group therapy. In addition to advanced training in addictions, I also have experience and training in maternal and perinatal counseling. Perinatal mental health covers the period of pregnancy up to a year after birth. This includes coping with post-partum depression/OCD/PTSD, unplanned pregnancy, infant loss, miscarriages, infertility issues and anxiety as it relates to preparing for a newborn. A native of Georgia, I have a BBA in Marketing from Georgia Southern University and a Masters in Social Work from Valdosta State University. I have lived in South Georgia my entire life. I am a spouse and mother of 3 children and 1 dog.
Clients can expect to feel heard, validated and encouraged. They should leave the office having a better sense of self and a better understanding of their goals. They will feel more confident and have working knowledge of self-compassion.
I primarily use cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and dialectical behavioral therapy.
As your therapist I can be there for you when things don’t go as planned. Hormonal changes coupled with worrying about birthing can become stressful. It is common for women to experience “baby blues” but sometimes if it’s lasting it could lead to postpartum depression, perinatal anxiety, perinatal OCD and in rare cases, postpartum psychosis. In addition to postpartum mental health, I can help with coping during the adoption process, miscarriages, infant loss, traumatic births, unplanned pregnancies and infertility. I began my career as a certified alcohol and drug counselor more than 8 years ago and have a desire and passion to help those who are caught in the chains of addiction.
