Hi! My name is Johanna and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based out of San Diego, California. As a therapist, I strive to create a non-judgmental and safe environment where you can open up and feel supported. I would like to assist you in reaching your personal goals, whether they involve healing from trauma, developing coping and regulation skills, or managing day-to-day stressors. I view therapy as a collaborative process and hope we can work together to meet your needs.
We will use our first session to get to know one another. We will discuss the specifics of what brought you to therapy and identify some of your goals and expectations moving forward. Just remember, therapy is a fluid process so your needs and goals may change and that's ok. I will follow your lead and we can adjust as needed.
I believe that one of my greatest strengths as a provider is my calm demeanor. I strive to create a comfortable, non-judgmental, and empathetic environment.
I specialize in helping clients cope with depression, anxiety, life transitions, and trauma. My approach is eclectic and incorporates various modalities, depending on individual needs, including EMDR, person-centered therapy, and strength-based therapy. I work with adults of all ages, however, I have a particular interest in working with women and young adults. I also have experience working in crisis intervention and suicide prevention.
Everyone deals with trauma, whether a singular event or a complex history. EMDR is very effective is helping individuals heal from distressing life events. I can assist you in processing traumatic memories, which can provide relief and enhance resilience.
I believe you are the expert of your own experiences, and I tailor our sessions to focus on your individual needs.
I do not use a single method approach to therapy. Everyone is different and our needs frequently change, so I find it useful to utilize multiple modalities in therapy practice.
