Hi there! My name is Lauren and I am a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor who has been in the field since 2019. Have you ever felt like asking for help or seeking counseling is a sign of weakness? I challenge you to consider the strength it takes to admit that you can’t handle something on your own and actually seek out help, so congratulations you took that first difficult step. As a counselor, I have experience working with a wide range of client identified issues including: depression, anxiety, PTSD, low self-worth, anger issues, communication issues, caregiver burnout, life transitions, and childhood trauma. I strive to help clients work through challenges and gain new insight and perspectives. I’d love the opportunity to help you work toward becoming the best version of yourself. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, substance abuse disorders, adjustment disorders, life transitions, primary caregivers, PTSD, and childhood trauma. I have experience working with, and alongside law enforcement officers, first responders, and veterans. I provide both traditional counseling and equine assisted psychotherapy to adults 18 and older.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session is about getting to know you and what brings you to therapy. I want to get to know what challenges you’ve faced and are currently facing that you would like help working through. I provide a welcoming and non-judge mental approach with the goal of creating a safe space where you feel comfortable sharing your biggest concerns with me. During this session we also discuss what you want to get out of therapy and what tools you want to learn to help you with your challenges.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Therapy is for you, and I work to build a professional relationship with my clients through which I can help you become the best version of yourself. I work on the premise that an awareness of where your challenges come from can help initiate the change you seek, and that together we can work toward that change. I focus on helping my clients to gain insight into what is preventing the change that they are seeking from becoming a possibility as well as helping to discover ways to work through those blockages.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I have firsthand experience working in the field with first responders through a crisis team of co-responders. I have been given unique insight into the first responder culture and understand the mentality and coping skills used in a way that most therapists do not. I also understand the reservations about seeking therapy that first responders have from concerns about job security, to judgement from colleagues. I enjoy working with first responders to address some of these concerns and barriers to seeking therapy. I also enjoy working with veterans, and individuals with a history of trauma who are worried about overwhelming a therapist. My background has exposed me to many stories, situations and struggles shared by clients, leaving me largely aware of many of life’s darker sides. I also enjoy helping clients that struggle with low self worth, see the positive aspects of themselves and work toward gaining self acceptance and self compassion.
