About me

Open-minded and nonjudgmental therapist with a safe place. Experienced with alternative lifestyles, unique situations and welcoming to all individuals. I use an eclectic approach to therapy as one size does not fit all. Counseling is a place to work toward a better and more fulfilling life, where goals are attained, communication is improved and relationships are strengthened. With a particular interest in sexual dysfunction and intimate relationship problems, I will accept you as you are, with unconditional positive regard. I have over 15 years of experience as a mental health counselor, and support people in each of the dimensions of wellness. I recognize you as the expert in your life! Together we will work as a team partnership to establish goals and the steps to help attain those dreams.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

By focusing on your preferred outcomes, we work together to develop your goals, and the steps you identify to reach your own destiny.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use ACT to support you in finding your most authentic self. We will explore your core values and work on taking committed actions toward building a meaningful life. ACT also integrates mindfulness practice to help you stay present, slow down, and approach your experiences without judgment.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

With CBT, we examine the interconnected relationship between your thoughts, feelings (emotions), and your actions and reactions. I will guide you through practical, step-by-step changes toward the desired outcomes and preferred results that you seek.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

In utilizing DBT, we focus on four essential skill sets: mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance. With regular practice, you may find that you are experiencing less suffering and more effective ways of feeling, processing, and experiencing emotions. This leads to improved engagement with others and a greater ability to withstand the challenges and stressors of daily life.

Eclectic

My integrated model focuses on building resilience, self-awareness, and the concrete skills necessary for long-term well-being and a life rich in personal meaning.

Amie was very encouraging and seemed to track with what my concerns are....she asked good questions related to past and present. I am anxious to see the resources she is suggesting. All in all very positive experience.
