I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC-D) and Master CASAC with over 25 years of experience working with adults navigating substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, parenting stress, and life transitions. I have worked extensively in both residential and outpatient settings and bring clinical depth along with practical, real-world understanding. My approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), strength-based treatment, and compassion-focused interventions. I help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, build on their existing resilience, and reduce shame and self-criticism that often interfere with healing and recovery. I balance genuine compassion with structured, goal-oriented support to help clients create meaningful and sustainable change. As a bilingual clinician fluent in Spanish, I am committed to providing culturally responsive care and creating a therapeutic space where clients feel understood, empowered, and capable of growth.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, you can expect a supportive, unhurried conversation focused on understanding what brings you to therapy. This is your space to talk openly about what’s been weighing on you, without pressure to have everything figured out. I’ll ask some questions to better understand your background, current concerns, and goals, but we won’t rush into “fixing” anything. My priority is helping you feel heard and understood first. As we begin to build clarity together, we can gently explore patterns in thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and discuss how we might move forward at a pace that feels right for you. By the end of our first session, you can expect to have a clearer sense of how we’ll work together and whether it feels like a good fit.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What makes me unique is the combination of over 25 years of hands-on clinical experience and leadership in behavioral health. I have worked across residential and outpatient settings, which allows me to understand not only the emotional and psychological aspects of change, but also the practical realities of recovery, relapse prevention, and long-term stability. As both an LMHC-D and Master CASAC, I bring deep expertise in substance use treatment alongside strong mental health training. I understand how depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship stress, and addiction intersect — and I treat the whole person, not just the symptoms. I balance warmth with structure. Clients often appreciate that I am compassionate and nonjudgmental, while also being direct, practical, and focused on forward movement. I help people move beyond shame and self-criticism and build sustainable skills for real-world change. Being bilingual in Spanish also allows me to provide culturally responsive care and connect meaningfully with a broader range of individuals and families.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is an adult who is ready to look honestly at their patterns and wants meaningful change, even if they feel stuck, overwhelmed, or discouraged. Many of the individuals I work best with are navigating substance use recovery, anxiety, depression, relationship stress, or major life transitions. They may struggle with self-criticism, shame, or difficulty setting boundaries, but they also have strengths and resilience that we can build on together. I work well with clients who appreciate a balance of compassion and structure — those who want a therapist who is warm and supportive, but also direct, practical, and goal-oriented. If you are motivated to grow, willing to examine your thoughts and behaviors, and open to developing new coping skills, we will likely be a good fit.

My treatment methods

Strength-Based

I utilize a strength-based approach by identifying and building upon each client’s existing abilities, resilience, and personal resources to support meaningful and sustainable change.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, and create meaningful behavioral change.

Compassion Focused

Through a compassion-focused approach, I support clients in developing kindness toward themselves, especially when working through trauma, relapse, or deeply rooted patterns of shame.
