About me

I am Brianna Brooks, an Afrocentric therapist based in Atlanta and the founder of Mastering My Reality. I believe that lasting transformation begins with mastering your emotions. When you understand your emotional world, you become better equipped to make intentional decisions, build healthier relationships, and create the life you envision. My approach to therapy is collaborative, culturally responsive, and tailored to each individual's unique experiences. I integrate evidence-based therapeutic approaches with an Afrocentric perspective, recognizing the importance of culture, identity, community, and personal strengths in the healing process. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, or personal growth, my goal is to provide a safe, empowering space where you can gain insight, build resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change. Healing isn't about becoming someone else. It's about mastering your reality so you can live with greater peace, purpose, and authenticity.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session is all about getting to know you. Together, we'll begin building a strong therapeutic relationship by exploring what brings you to therapy, your goals for treatment, and what you hope to gain from our work together. This is also an opportunity for us to discuss your expectations of me as your therapist and answer any questions you may have about the therapeutic process. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. Therapy is a partnership, and from our very first session, we'll begin creating a personalized plan to help you master your emotions, overcome life's challenges, and move toward the life you want to create.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

The strengths I bring to each session include: A safe, nonjudgmental space. I strive to create an environment where you feel comfortable being your authentic self, knowing you will be met with empathy, respect, and compassion. A culturally responsive perspective. As an Afrocentric therapist, I recognize that culture, identity, family, and community play an important role in our mental health and healing. I honor these experiences while tailoring therapy to your unique story. A collaborative approach. I don't believe therapy is about telling you what to do. We work together to identify your goals, build on your strengths, and develop strategies that align with your values and lifestyle. An integrative therapeutic style. I draw from multiple evidence-based therapeutic approaches because every person is different. Your treatment will be personalized to meet your specific needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. A focus on emotional mastery. At the core of my practice is the belief that understanding and managing your emotions is the foundation for creating meaningful, lasting change. Together, we'll work to increase emotional awareness, build resilience, and help you respond to life's challenges with confidence. Authenticity and genuine connection. Healing begins within a trusting therapeutic relationship. My goal is to ensure you feel heard, understood, and supported throughout your journey. My hope is that every client leaves each session with greater insight, practical skills, and the confidence to continue mastering their reality.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

At Mastering My Reality, I work with children, teens, and adults who want to better understand their emotions, build healthier coping skills, and create positive change. My ideal client may be experiencing anxiety, trauma, grief, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, behavioral concerns, family conflict, life transitions, or difficulty managing emotions. With children, therapy may focus on identifying feelings, improving communication, building confidence, and learning age-appropriate coping skills. With teens, therapy may support concerns related to anxiety, depression, identity, peer relationships, academic stress, family conflict, emotional regulation, and self-esteem. I strive to create a space where teens feel heard, respected, and safe to be honest. With adults, therapy may focus on healing from past experiences, setting boundaries, improving relationships, managing stress, breaking unhealthy patterns, and creating a more peaceful and intentional life. I also welcome clients who value culturally responsive and spiritually inclusive care. Culture, identity, family, community, and faith may be explored when they are meaningful to the client. My ideal client does not need to have everything figured out. They simply need to be open to reflection, growth, and learning new ways to cope, communicate, and move forward. At Mastering My Reality, therapy is about helping you gain the insight and emotional tools needed to navigate life with greater confidence, resilience, and purpose.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Helping clients identify connections between their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and physical sensations, then collaboratively testing and changing patterns that keep problems going.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I provide culturally responsive therapy by creating space for clients to explore how culture, identity, family, community, and lived experience shape their emotional well-being. Rather than making assumptions, I approach each client with curiosity, humility, and respect. I recognize that experiences such as racism, discrimination, family expectations, spirituality, gender roles, and generational patterns may influence how clients understand themselves and navigate the world. My goal is to offer therapy that feels relevant, affirming, and personalized. I adapt therapeutic interventions to each client’s values, strengths, and cultural background while creating an environment where clients feel safe enough to be fully seen and heard. I also welcome honest feedback throughout the therapeutic process because culturally sensitive therapy requires ongoing reflection, collaboration, and trust.

Faith based therapy

For clients who wish to incorporate their faith or spirituality into therapy, I offer a spiritually integrated approach that honors and respects all religious, spiritual, and cultural beliefs. I recognize that faith and spirituality can be important sources of strength, resilience, meaning, and healing. Whether your beliefs are rooted in Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Indigenous spiritual traditions, or another faith, I strive to create a space where your values and beliefs are welcomed and respected. I also support clients who identify as spiritual but not religious or who are exploring questions about faith and purpose. The integration of spirituality into therapy is always guided by your preferences and goals. Together, we may explore how your beliefs, values, practices, and sources of hope can support your emotional well-being and personal growth while using evidence-based therapeutic approaches to address anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, and life transitions. My goal is to provide a safe, inclusive, and nonjudgmental environment where every client feels empowered to explore their emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being in a way that aligns with their unique beliefs and lived experiences. I believe healing is deeply personal. When clients choose to incorporate their faith or spirituality into the therapeutic process, it can become a meaningful source of resilience, purpose, and transformation.
