Hi, I'm Cindy! Thank you for giving me a look. I am a licensed clinical social worker in the states of MA, VT, NJ, VA, NC, SC and TX. I focus on childhood trauma, attachment styles and how the childhood experiences shape the person we become. I am inquisitive and I use a down to earth style with a holistic approach. I believe that in order to thrive, we must heal from within. Our body needs proper sleep, nurishment, movement and balance in nature and environment.
In our first session will begin with a review of your assessments and intake form and then I will dive into questions about your hopes and dreams and the reason why you decided to come to therapy. I will ask about the specific challenges you are facing and what you want to achieve in therapy. Then together we will work to create goals to achieve a tailored treatment plan that will produce the results you seek as quickly as possible.
I have a variety of tools in my toolbox which have provided positive results to many adults from young professionals to those who are more seasoned in their careers.
I enjoy working with adults who are navigating changes in their life and want the advice and guidance from someone who is non-judgmental and who will be honest. I often help those who are eager to improve, however, they may not know where/how to start, while others may feel stuck, sad, overwhelmed and/or anxious about the recent changes in their lives.
Cynthia Mobley offers therapy covered by UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Texas.
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is an action-oriented approach to psychotherapy that stems from traditional behavior therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. I will help you to stop avoiding, denying, and struggling with you inner emotions and, instead, accept that these deeper feelings are appropriate responses to certain situations that should not prevent you from moving forward in your life.
I have extensive experience using CBT in practice with clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression and trauma/PTSD. Clients who have strained and stressful relationships may also benefit from CBT. CBT helps to determine where the negative thoughts came from, and once the origin of the negative thought is determined, the negative emotions/behaviors can be replaced with more positive ones by working together to challenge the negative thoughts. Positive change comes after you begin to notice that you feel better when you are thinking more positively about yourself and your world.
I often work with BIPOC clients who have close cultural ties to their race and ethnicity. Being a person of color I can relate to the family norms and expectations with in close family cultures and I understand the importance of family and that seeking their approval and asking for their advice is normal. I also know that when we do not get the approval we seek or feel as if we disappointed our family, it can have a lasting negative affect.
When you are ready, I will sit with you as you uncover your past traumas and I will encourage you, over time to talk about the parts of your past that you are avoiding. As someone who has experienced trauma, I know this can be difficult, however, you will notice that as you continue to talk about the painful events you have been avoiding, you will experience a steady decline to the negative impact the memories have on your life.
I will work with you to quickly find a solution, or in some cases, multiple options to the problem you are facing. I have often used this technique to successfully assist individuals make a decision about which college to attend, a career decision and whether or not to remain in a relationship to name a few. Sometimes, just processing the problem with a neutral third party has helped clients to see a clear path to their decision.
