About me

I know that starting therapy can be challenging but I am here to help! I am a licensed counselor (LPC) and registered art therapist (ATR-BC), who is passionate about tailoring therapy to each client individually. I specialize in counseling for medical conditions (see below for more information), grief, trauma, anxiety and depression management. I have experience working with a wide variety of diagnoses and believe strongly in pulling from multiple different disciplines to find the best treatment possible. I teach my clients about self compassion, finding your values, mindfulness, coping skills, identity, and more. Let’s work together to help you find the best version of yourself! *While I am an art therapist, it is not a requirement for therapy with me! I am patient-focused and will follow what you feel comfortable with*

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is an intake session. I will ask a lot of questions about your history, diagnoses, reasons for starting therapy, etc. I want to get to know you so that I can help you to the best of my ability!

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I enjoy working with people with all kinds of diagnoses and have the most experience with depression and anxiety. I also work in a hospital system. I have extensive medical art therapy experience and passion for working with individuals who have suffered from a brain injury, spinal cord injury, heart attack, stroke, cancer diagnosis and many more. I specialize in finding ways to allow for art making to be accessible for everyone!

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with adults 15-end of life. I have expertise in counseling for medical conditions. I would also love variety in clients especially with anxiety.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My approach to CBT is grounded in helping clients recognize the strong emotional connection between thoughts, emotions and behaviors. I believe that by identifying unhelpful thought patterns and developing a more balanced way of thinking, people can experience meaningful change in how they feel and respond to life's challenges.

My first appointment with Katie was really great. This is my first rime ever trying therapy. I felt heard, and I’m ready to start meeting more often.
