Hello, I'm Angie! I’m an LCSW based in California with several years of experience working with clients, including youth, adults, and families. I operate from the framework that it is frequently difficult to be a person, and we all benefit from non-judgmental spaces to navigate life's chaos. My approach is integrative, drawing from various modalities like MI, CBT, DBT, SFBT, PST, EMDR and Narrative therapy. I tailor my interventions to each individual and their circumstances. I believe in psychoeducation and ensuring that every person in my care understands their diagnosis, symptoms, and the reasons behind therapeutic suggestions so they are empowered to make decisions with the information. Let’s talk about the things that are happening for you!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with introductions then dive into the things that brought you to therapy. We'll explore what you're hoping to get from the experience- including any goals you have in mind, and any changes you're hoping to make.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I approach everyone with curiosity and a desire to collaboratively support. My experience working with youth and adults with a wide range of clinical presentations and trauma histories has allowed me to develop an integrative approach that focuses on the person in front of me and tailors interventions based on needs.

My treatment methods

Integrative

I have found that treatment that integrates techniques from multiple modalities as indicated by current need and presentation is the most effective method for providing ongoing support.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I approach therapy via a person-centered framework, and believe in the inherent worth of anyone who walks (virtually) into my office. This means my approach is grounded in empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard, creating a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings.

Motivational Interviewing

I have utilized motivational interviewing extensively with clients to support in resolving ambivalence to progress towards wellness. I find MI can be a useful tool for identifying motivating factors and working in a collaborative manner to progress (or not!) based on the client's stage of change.

Psychoeducation

I utilize psychoeducation to ensure clients have an understanding of symptoms, antecedents and barriers to resolution to increase empowerment and personal capacity for change making based in insight and awareness. I feel it's essential to ensure the language and examples employed are tailored to the client, so the information is delivered to them in a way that allows them to comfortably engage with it.

EMDR

I am an EMDR trained therapist, and I strongly believe that EMDR is a modality with the capacity to reduce the impact of trauma, and provide increased overall wellness when used in combination with talk therapy modalities.
