New to Grow
I'm Dr. Jillian Burkley, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 14 years of experience specializing in young adults, mid-career lifelong learners, and adolescent and family mental health. I work with you and your families as you navigate anxiety, trauma, neurodiversity, and identity challenges. My approach blends evidence-based interventions with cultural humility and a deep understanding of developmental needs. I create BRAVE SPACE, affirming spaces where you feel truly understood.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, we'll get to know each other, and I'll understand what brought you in. I'll explain how I work, answer your questions, and help you feel safe, brave, and comfortable. We'll discuss your goals and concerns in a confidential, judgment-free space. You'll leave with a clear sense of how we can work together and what to expect going forward. First sessions set the tone for therapeutic growth—let's make it meaningful.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strength is building authentic therapeutic relationships grounded in trust, authenticity, and cultural competence. I bring evidence-based expertise in trauma-focused and cognitive-behavioral interventions, along with a neurodiversity-affirming, strength-based lens. I have a deep understanding of young adults ages 20s-40s, adolescent development, and young-at-heart individuals, and I help you feel seen and supported during critical growth periods. I'm skilled at navigating complex family dynamics and helping families communicate more effectively. My 14 years of clinical experience, combined with ongoing training, ensure you're working with someone truly invested in your well-being.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal clients are individuals (and their families) who are navigating anxiety, trauma, or neurodiversity and want therapy that honors their whole self. They may be seeking support with identity exploration, family dynamics, school pressures, or recovering from difficult experiences. They value a therapist who understands cultural context, celebrates differences, and brings both clinical expertise and genuine warmth to the work. You're ready for real change and growth.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help individuals, young adults, adolescents, and families identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. This evidence-based approach is particularly effective for anxiety, depression, and trauma-related concerns. I integrate TF-CBT techniques specifically for trauma-informed care, while maintaining a neurodiversity-affirming lens that honors each client's unique cognitive style.
Family Therapy
I bring a systemic, culturally-sensitive approach to family work, especially with third-culture kids and immigrant families navigating identity and belonging. I help families strengthen communication, resolve conflict, and support adolescents through transitions and challenges. My work is rooted in understanding how family systems, cultural context, and neurodiversity intersect.
Trauma-Focused CBT
As a TF-CBT certified practitioner, I specialize in working with adolescents who have experienced trauma, abuse, or other adverse events. I use evidence-based TF-CBT protocols while maintaining a trauma-informed, culturally-competent approach. I help teens process trauma, reduce symptoms like anxiety and hyperarousal, and rebuild a sense of safety and empowerment.
