I have been providing mental health diagnostic assessments and therapy for almost 10 years. I use a down-to-earth, straight-forward approach to address adults struggling with relationships, attachment trauma, depression, anxiety, and Borderline Personality Disorder. I create space to explore all aspects of oneself without judgement. I have a background in medical research, case management, mental health diagnostic assessments, and psychotherapy. I've worked in various healthcare environments that include emergency rooms, pediatric intensive care, hospital psychiatric floors, crisis stabilization, residential treatment facilities, and outpatient private practice. I'm a proud USC graduate.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During the first appointment I collect information necessary to complete a diagnostic assessment. This includes information about past and present mental health and health conditions and treatment, prior hospitalizations, current work-related information, current household environment, support system, cultural information, childhood, and previous traumas (you do not need to go into detail). All of this information contributes to a comprehensive diagnostic assessment. I also provide a bit of relevant information about myself so clients can decide if I'm a good fit for them.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My approach to therapy is rooted in humor, humility, and honesty. I’m not here to lead you, I’m here to walk alongside you, offering perspective and gently pointing out what you may have overlooked. I believe in problem-solving within a supportive and nonjudgmental space, where difficult conversations can become more manageable and even empowering. I genuinely value honest feedback from clients; it not only strengthens our work together, but also offers a real-time opportunity to build communication skills.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work with adults who experience depression, anxiety, and or trauma symptoms. I specialize in attachment trauma that resurfaces in our relationships as an adult. Attachment trauma includes an invalidating environment, lack of attunement, neglect, emotional abuse, mental abuse, and or physical abuse that we experience during our childhood.
Psychodynamic
I use a combination of attachment-based, mentalization-based, dialectical behavioral, and cognitive behavioral therapy modalities for adults who are having difficulty with life transitions, career dissatisfaction, and relationship issues.
Attachment-based
I incorporate attachment-based therapy to identify attachment trauma and how it affects adult relationships with family members and partners.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I am certified in DBT and am currently engaged in ongoing consultation for Mentalization-based Treatment. I provide these modalities to help adults improve their interpersonal relationships. Please note: Out of respect for your time, I want to communicate some reasons why I would initiate a rematch with a different therapist. I do not specialize in symptoms including psychosis, grief, substance use disorder as primary reason for treatment, or recent (within past year) or current suicidal/homicidal/self-injurious ideas or attempts. I also do not provide disability certifications or emotional support animal letters. I do not provide custody evaluations or provide court-related letters. I do not provide letters or complete forms for individuals to regain a driver's license. If a client communicates these symptoms or requests during treatment with me, I have an ethical obligation to initiate a rematch with a different therapist.
