Welcome! I'm Crystal. I'm so glad you're here. I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker based in Ohio. I received my Master's degree from The Ohio State University. In my 14 years of clinical experience, I have worked with individuals with a wide range of mental health concerns and psychosocial issues, including: depression and anxiety, trauma, relationship struggles, parenting concerns, chronic illness and medically complexity, severe mental illness, healthcare worker burnout, caregiver compassion fatigue, and more. I help clients who are feeling stuck break free of the patterns that are holding them back.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I believe everyone deserves to be listened to and understood. As my client, I will strive to deeply understand the challenges you are facing, help you find and harness the strength you already possess, and offer new tools to help you achieve your goals. I consider it a privilege to walk with you on your path to wellness!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

With my background in oncology social work, I am uniquely positioned to serve clients who are experiencing grief and caregivers who are experiencing burn-out or compassion fatigue. Additionally, my years of experience in crisis intervention roles and critical care social work have given me firsthand perspective on the challenges faced by society's helpers.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with clients who are going through big life changes, especially those who are adjusting to life with a new diagnosis or life after loss. I also love working with healthcare workers and first responders.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is an evidence-based practice that teaches clients how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact with each other. We all experience cognitive distortions throughout our lives, or thoughts that are based on flawed logic. Part of the goal of CBT is to learn how to identify and combat those types of distorted thoughts, so that we can reframe our understanding of events happening in our lives. This can have a profound effect on our feelings and behaviors, leading to improved mental health outcomes!

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-focused therapy is also an evidence-based treatment modality, and is similar to a strengths-based approach. In my practice, I use this modality to help patients identify the positive coping skills and strengths they already possess, and use this foundation to propel themselves forward into finding solutions for their current challenges.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing is an evidenced-based practice that is often used when working with clients who are ambivalent about change in certain aspects of their lives. With this modality, I help clients take a more objective look at their situation so they can decide what is working well for them and what might need to change.
