About me

Great to meet you! With over two decades of dedicated experience in the healthcare field, I am a doctorally prepared, board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. My unwavering commitment to mental health and extensive training under leading psychiatrists in North Carolina have culminated in a career of expertise and compassion. I help high-functioning or professional individuals aged 18 to 65 who struggle to effectively navigate the demands of college education, parenthood, and professional life.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first visit, we will gather information through various methods, such as interviews, questionnaires, and standardized assessments. We will also explore your history, including personal, family, past psychiatric, social, medical, substance use, current symptoms, and relevant life events. Depending on your symptoms, some lab tests and psychological testing may also need to be carried out. After this is done, I will diagnose if your symptoms match any mental health conditions and start a treatment plan, including psychoeducation, medication management, and supportive therapy with plan to follow up in 2 weeks or as needed.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a provider with ADHD, I bring unique strengths to patient care, including enhanced empathy, creativity, flexibility, high energy, and problem-solving skills. I often excel in multitasking and demonstrate a passion for continuous learning, contributing to a positive and supportive therapeutic environment. This can create a sense of solidarity, and an asset when connecting with the patients in my care.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Patients treated for inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity problems will likely bring positive changes in their lives. Untreated ADHD may impact your mental health, relationships, and working life. Still, ADHD diagnosis or treatment for adults typically takes many months and can cost thousands of dollars. We are changing that... My other areas of expertise include mood disorders, anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, perinatal psychiatry, crisis stabilization, and psychosis.

My treatment methods

Multicultural

I’ve been using multicultural therapy in my practice for years. It is woven into the process of medication management, considering and respecting the patient’s cultural background and values. I collaborate with the patient to ensure that the treatment plan aligns with his/her cultural context and provides the necessary support for his mental health journey.

Supportive

I have been using supportive psychotherapy to focus on providing emotional support and guidance to individuals experiencing various challenges, stressors, or mental health issues. It has helped most of my patients understand the role of medication in treatment, how they work, potential side effects, and the importance of consistent medication use. It also addresses the patients’ concerns, providing information to alleviate fears and normalizing the range of emotions associated with starting medication. We will then support the patient in making informed decisions about the treatment, set realistic expectations, monitor progress and provide ongoing support.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Integrating CBT into medication management enhances the overall therapeutic approach, addressing cognitive and behavioral factors that contribute to mental health conditions. I have used the combination of medication and CBT to provide a nuanced and effective treatment plan for individuals with various mood and anxiety disorders.
