Hello! My name is Mariam Chilingaryan and I am a licensed Psychologist. Through my clinical work, I aim to help people feel more like themselves again... especially when life feels heavy or disconnected. I’m drawn to exploring the deeper layers of what people carry, how past experiences shape how we see ourselves and how we move through the world. In our work together, my goal is to offer a space where you can be real, feel understood, and start making sense of things at your own pace. You don’t have to have it all figured out (none of us do), but you can pick up the momentum that will make that meaningful difference!
In our first session, the goal is simply to get to know each other. I’ll ask some questions about what’s been going on, what brought you in, and what you’d like to get out of therapy. There’s no pressure to tell your whole story or dive into everything... we'll take it at your pace. You’re welcome to ask questions too. I want the space to feel as open and comfortable as possible.
One of my greatest strengths is being able to handle complexity. I’ve worked with people dealing with everything from psychosis and mood disorders to substance use, trauma, and personality disorders. Most of the time, it’s not just one thing. It’s layers. People show up with symptoms, but underneath that, there’s history, patterns, survival strategies. I don’t rely on surface-level answers. I take the time to understand what’s actually going on and what might help. I’ve learned to see what’s in front of me, but also what’s not being said.
The people I work best with are often carrying a lot beneath the surface. Sometimes it’s anxiety, self-doubt, or old pain that manages to seep through in quiet ways. Sometimes it’s burnout, loneliness, or feeling disconnected from who you are. You might not have the words for it, and that’s okay. If you’re ready for that shift, I’m ready to meet you there.
I take an eclectic approach to treatment as I believe therapy should feel personal, flexible, and supportive. I attempt to draw from a variety of therapeutic methods to best meet each client’s individual needs. Through my experience, I have found that no single modality works for every person. People are unique and complex, and therapy should reflect that. My foundation includes evidence-based practices from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness-based strategies, person-centered approaches, among others! I draw from these modalities flexibly depending on what a client is presenting with and how they respond. For instance, I may use CBT and DBT skills to help a client manage anxiety or emotional regulation, while incorporating psychodynamic or attachment-based work when exploring deeper relational patterns or trauma. I continually reassess what is effective and adjust my approach as needed. This allows me to stay grounded in clinical structure while also remaining responsive and attuned to the person in front of me.
