Alissia Young
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes that healing happens through genuine connection. My approach blends professional clinical training with deep, real-world empathy. I know that life can be messy, painful, and overwhelming. I do not see you as a diagnosis or a problem to fix. I see you as a whole person with a unique story. Together, we will use practical tools and honest conversation to help you navigate your challenges and find your strength.
First session
The primary goal of the first session is clarity and alignment. Clients will walk away with: An overview of the landscape as I will explore what brought them to therapy right now, their current pain points, etc. They will have a defined vision of the "Best Version", a roadmap for care and a sense of fit.
Strengths
My approach blends deep empathy with action-oriented growth. I don't just comfort people; I empower them to transform. I utilize my professional strengths and unique coaching/therapeutic approach.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is looking for a transformation. They should be ready for change, they aren't afraid of being introspective and curious, growth-oriented and action-oriented. My ideal client is someone who is ready to stop surviving and start thriving. They aren't looking for a quick-fix; they are looking for a collaborative partner to help them unpack the past, build resilience, and create an intentional fulfilling future.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I specialize in meeting the client where they are. I actively listen, allow the client to be heard and feel comfortable by building rapport. I guide clients to identify and change unhelpful connections between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
I use culturally responsive therapy by adapting my care to fit each client's unique cultural background, values, and life experiences. I facilitate this by focusing on self-reflection, using open-dialogue, and validating their realities.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy by balancing the acceptance of a client's painful experience with active strategies for positive change. We work together by encouraging the client to focus on the present moment without judgement and assisting the client in regulating their emotions.
Faith-based therapy
I integrate a client's spiritual or religious beliefs with clinical psychological methods to support their mental health and healing journey.
Supportive
I offer a safe, empathetic space that helps clients reduce emotional distress and strengthen their daily coping skills.
