Hello! I'm Robert Aguirre, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in California. I received my Masters from the Pacific Oaks College and have been practicing for 12 years. I often work with young individuals facing challenges with transitions, separation, anxiety and depression. I pride myself in meeting clients where they are at on their journey to healing.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will begin with brief introductions, I will aim to gather background information to learn some history, then dive into the challenges and obstacles that you may be facing. This will aid in creating a plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with clients for the past 14 years, I've developed strategies to help relate and connect with clients. The creative methods I often explore are learning about the roots causes, followed by developing techniques to help client target areas of concern

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Take a moment to acknowledge the BIG step you've taken towards bettering your mental health. Looking into therapy can be scary, challenging, confusing and stressful all at once. I aim to provide a welcoming environment that allows clients to addressing concerns and stressors related to anxiety, transitions, depression, and finding ways to self-regulate.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I’ve been using CBT in my practice for years. It’s helped clients challenge reoccurring thoughts, stressors, depressive moods and manage their anxiety. We will be able to utilize CBT strategies and methods to recognize patterns on how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. One goal will be to be able to work towards using that knowledge to change thinking patterns.
