I am a therapist and have lived and worked both in the Springfield area and Cape Cod. I have worked in private practice and in community mental health agencies. My favorite thing about this work is getting to watch my clients grow, move outside of the box they’ve confined themselves to, spread their wings and fly! I will help you determine the areas of your life that you want to work on and we will work on this together, as a team.
In our first few sessions we will get to know each other and I will want to know more about your background and history, what your past experiences with therapy may have been like, what brings you to therapy. What are you hoping to achieve? We will identify your strengths and assess your toolbox of already existing mental health skills. From there we will develop a plan together. I understand how difficult it can be schedule appointments if you’re working a Monday through Friday, 9-5 job; which is why I offer some evening and weekend appointments to truly be able to meet you where you are at. I am passionate about this work because I’m not only a provider but also a person with lived experience of mental health issues and someone was there for me when I needed it. I want to pass it on.
I will always come to you with compassion and humour. I find it to be almost more important than the alphabet soup of tools that therapists have (i.e. CBT, DBT, ACT, EMDR, etc.) I also can truly understand your struggle as I've been on both sides of the couch!
I enjoy helping people that are struggling with depression, anxiety and general life difficulties that are keeping them from enjoying the highest quality of life that they can and deserve. I don’t have a cookie cutter approach because you are not a cookie and I am not a cookie cutter. I draw mostly from techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, exposure response prevention, strengths based, solution focused and gentle reprocessing of trauma; I don’t believe in a one size fits all approach. Each one of you is unique and I will treat you that way. I will meet you where you are at and together we will devise a game plan, written in pencil, not sharpie. I look forward to being part of your journey.
Most of us, knowingly or not, are effected by the constant flow of internal dialogue in her heads. A lot of these thoughts, worries aren't based on reality but rather catastrophic thinking. This constant negative noise in our heads can steal the joy from our everyday life. I will help you identify the thoughts, challenge and possibly change or reframe. Thoughts and behaviors both have a strong impact on our feelings. Changing a thought or behavior can significantly change our feelings and quality of life.
Mindfulness is one tool in taming the negative voices in our head so that we can live in and enjoy today instead of living in a state of anxiety with worries about tomorrow.
