New to Grow
My path to becoming a therapist started as a teenager. I was always passionate about helping others and getting to the root of how to help with solving their problems. As a teen, I worked in the behavioral health unit of a local clinic. I aspired to be like one of the therapists or nurse practitioners there. Seeing clients come in for their appointments and being able to sit in on certain group sessions was all so exciting for me. I have always been attracted to the field of psychology, which I majored in for my undergraduate degree. It was my abnormal psych class in undergrad that changed my life forever. I will never forget being so drawn to and interested in the different mental health disorders in the DSM. I spoke with my professor after class and asked how I could work with individuals who experienced mental health concerns. She mentioned obtaining a degree in mental health counseling and then a license. So, I completed grad school and obtained my license.
During our initial sessions, we will discuss issue at hand and collaborate to create a plan for addressing them in a way that helps you get your life back. Most of my clients see a gradual lifting of symptoms within the first month and sustained improvement thereafter.
I work in collaboration with my client to propel them forward by utilizing my clinical skills and expertise in motivational interviewing, CBT, solution-focused therapy, and person-centered therapy approaches.
Are you experiencing anxiety symptoms, difficulty navigating relationship issues, work stress or family issues? I know what it is to deal with these and much more. As a professional, I work with clients who face these same challenges on a daily basis and strive to gain better understanding of how to improve their overall mental health and well-being.
I utilize this treatment method in my practice with clients by identifying distorted cognitions (negative thinking) and help clients better manage these which will help them feel better as it relates to their depression or anxiety symptoms.
I utilize this treatment method to help clients resolve ambivalence and find the internal motivation they need to change behavior.
I utilize this treatment method with clients to focus on identifying, building, and using their existing strengths, resources, and resilience—rather than concentrating mainly on problems and or deficits.
