Hello, I'm Amelia. Are you struggling to connect with your inner sense of well-being? Do you experience relationship issues or inner conflicts that seem to prevent you from attaining your personal goals in life? I strive to assist my clients in finding their inherent strengths and learning how to utilize their personal wisdom to find their unique path to healing. Through uncovering these skills, I hope to help them become their own best ally in the ongoing process of healing emotional scars and creating a healthy inner experience for themselves. As an intermodal expressive arts therapist and licensed mental health counselor, I have over 15 years of experience working with people from all walks of life and all different age groups. Using compassionate listening along with clinical insight and feedback, I aim to develop a working relationship with my clients based on trust, safety and willingness to do the work. By incorporating expressive arts, which can include visual art, music, dance, writing or more, we can tap into the healing and strengthening qualities of your imagination. I also am clinically trained in DBT, SSP, and a Certified Complex Trauma Professional.
My expectation is that we have discussed and signed all of the intake paperwork before our first formal intake session. I like to start with a general discussion of what your hopes are for therapy, what you see your current challenges as, and a discussion regarding your family history.
I use unconditional positive regard, intermodal expressive arts therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and sometimes internal family systems work. The techniques used are chosen and developed for each individual's unique therapeutic needs.
One of my biggest strengths is helping you find specifically what your strengths are. Another strength is creating a working relationship in which you consider me an ally who assists you on your healing journey. I am steadfast and at times tenacious in my approach, always keeping compassionate listening and support at the forefront of our interactions. Being willing to think outside the box therapeutically and utilize the arts in a way that you feel immediate relief and can discover insights into your own healing is something that I always strive to achieve. Developing ways to incorporate expressive arts and DBT into your daily life is also something I focus on.
I am able to serve a wide variety of clients, including adults with depression, anxiety, and complex ptsd, as well as adhd. Age ranges are from 18 up.
