New to Grow
Hello! My name is Kayla and I am a licensed clinical psychologist practicing virtually within the state of Massachusetts. I received doctoral degree in psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology and have been practicing for 7+ years. I have experience working in hospital settings, outpatient clinics, and inpatient psychiatric settings treating primarily adults. I am devoted to helping others at any stage on their mental health journey gain back control of their symptoms and be the best version of themselves that aligns with their values. I use an integrative approach based on clients needs and preferences that incorporates goal setting, active listening, and compassion.
In our first session, we will spend time getting to know each other. I will make space for you to share what brought you into therapy and begin exploring ways I can help you. We will work on setting specific goals that are attainable and discuss what to expect moving forward from therapy.
As a therapist, I believe that therapy is a collaborative process and act as a guide to help my clients reach their goals. I am able to provide a safe space where my clients feel their voice matters. I believe that my clients come in as resilient individuals and help foster the strength that they already hold within through a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach.
I love working with adults at many different stages of their lives, whether they are new to mental health, experiencing a transitional period, or have gone through a traumatic experience in their life. I am eager to work with clients who are eager to find empowerment and a renewed sense of self by gaining insight into the root causes of their symptoms.
I use ACT in treatment for depression and anxiety to help reduce symptoms by helping patients reconnect with valued living.
I integrate CBT into many of my sessions by focusing on improving cognitive flexibility, changing unhelpful patterns in one’s thought process and behavior, and increasing hope.
I have completed national training in CBT-I. Patients who are interested in improving sleep through this approach will work with me through 5 sessions to improve sleep hygiene and change behaviors that maintain insomnia.
I utilize CPT to treat PTSD through this structured protocol over 12 weekly sessions. Over the course of 12 sessions, patients address beliefs that have been modified or created that keep us stuck within trauma.
I utilize PE for PTSD over the course of 8-15 sessions. Sessions are focused on exposure to the traumatic memory to reduce distress and gain control of PTSD. The other part is reducing avoidance of things that used to be enjoyable or you want to be able to incorporate back into your life again.
