Lauri-Ann Clarke
If you are caring for someone with a serious illness, raising a child with complex needs, or running on empty after years of putting everyone else first — this is the right place. You already know how to show up for the people you love. What's harder is asking for something for yourself. Many of my clients waited longer than they should have before reaching out, because they felt guilty, or because they convinced themselves they could handle it alone. If that sounds familiar, I want you to know: getting support isn't a sign that you're struggling. It's a sign that you're paying attention. I am a Doctorally prepared Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 10 years of experience supporting individuals and families through some of life's most demanding chapters — serious illness, end-of-life care, caregiving, grief, and the particular kind of burnout that comes from loving someone with complex needs. My hospice and palliative care background has shaped the way I work: with deep respect for what people are carrying, and a focus on dignity, whole-person care, and what actually helps in real life. I am also a parent of a child with Down syndrome. I know what it means to receive a diagnosis that reshapes your family's future. I've navigated IEP meetings, medical appointments, the emotional complexity of caregiving, and the way people who love you still don't quite understand. That lived experience is not separate from my clinical work — it's at the center of it. When you sit across from me, you won't have to explain yourself from the beginning.
First session
In our first session, you can expect a supportive and welcoming environment where you can share your concerns at your own pace. We will spend time discussing what brought you to treatment, your current challenges, and any relevant medical, emotional, or life experiences that may be impacting your well-being. My goal is to gain a clear understanding of your needs while helping you feel heard, respected, and comfortable. I provide psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and supportive therapy tailored to each client's needs. My focus is always on what's practical, sustainable, and grounded in your real life — not an idealized version of it.
Strengths
My approach is warm, open-minded, and practical. I work collaboratively with clients to understand what's driving their symptoms and build personalized strategies that fit their actual lives. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all care. I believe in meeting you where you are and building from there.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are adults, caregivers, and families who are ready to improve their emotional well-being and overall quality of life. They may be experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, grief, caregiver burnout, or challenges related to chronic medical conditions. They value a compassionate, nonjudgmental provider who listens, understands their unique experiences, and offers practical, evidence-based strategies. Whether they are seeking medication management, therapy, or support through a difficult life transition, they are motivated to work collaboratively toward greater resilience, balance, and lasting emotional wellness.
Treatment methods
Humanistic
I use a humanistic approach by creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and valued as individuals. I believe each person has unique experiences, strengths, and personal goals that should guide their care. In practice, I focus on building a trusting therapeutic relationship, actively listening to clients’ concerns, exploring their perspectives, and collaborating with them to develop treatment plans that align with their values and needs. This approach empowers clients to participate actively in their healing process and supports personal growth, self-awareness, and overall well-being.
