New to Grow
I am a therapist with experience working with clients across a wide range of ages and backgrounds. Having personal experience as a client in therapy, I understand the importance of feeling seen, heard, and genuinely supported in the therapeutic space. I value forming strong, honest, and collaborative relationships with my clients, and I strive to create a safe and respectful environment that fosters trust, connection, and meaningful growth.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
The first session focuses on getting to know one another and creating a comfortable, supportive environment. During this session, I gather relevant intake information, discuss current concerns, and collaborate with clients to identify goals they would like to work toward in therapy. This initial meeting helps establish a foundation for treatment and ensures that therapy is aligned with the client’s needs and expectations.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strength as a therapist is my lived experience as a person of color and as someone who has personally engaged in therapy, which gives me a deep understanding of the barriers and stigma that can surround mental health care. I bring extensive experience working with individuals across different ages, backgrounds, and cultures, allowing me to provide culturally responsive, empathetic, and inclusive care. This perspective helps me build strong therapeutic relationships grounded in understanding, respect, and authenticity.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal client is someone who is motivated and dedicated to the therapeutic process, and who is seeking support for goals such as increasing self-esteem, improving family and interpersonal relationships, and managing personality or emotional disorders. I also work with individuals on the autism spectrum who are looking to build skills, enhance self-understanding, and improve overall functioning. I value clients who are open to collaboration and committed to personal growth.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a structured, evidence-based approach that helps clients understand the relationship between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I work collaboratively with clients to identify unhelpful thinking patterns and core beliefs that contribute to emotional distress or maladaptive behaviors.
Strength-Based
Rather than focusing solely on deficits or symptoms, I help clients recognize how their strengths can be leveraged to address current challenges, build confidence, and support meaningful change
Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy
I work collaboratively with clients to identify irrational or unhelpful beliefs that contribute to emotional distress, and guide them in disputing these beliefs using logical, empirical, and pragmatic strategies. Through this process, clients develop more rational, flexible, and self-compassionate ways of thinking
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness practices are incorporated in a flexible and trauma-informed manner, and are used to enhance emotional regulation, stress reduction, and overall psychological resilience. Clients are encouraged to apply mindfulness skills both during sessions and in daily life to increase self-awareness, grounding, and intentional responding.
Play Therapy
I utilize play therapy as a developmentally appropriate and evidence-based approach to help children express thoughts, emotions, and experiences that may be difficult to articulate verbally.
