(she/her)
Welcome! I’m Ana Maria, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Florida. I earned my Master’s degree from Florida International University and have been in practice for the past six years. I work with children, adolescents, and adults, supporting them through anxiety, OCD, trauma, depression, and life’s many transitions. I believe healing unfolds step by step, and I’m here to walk alongside you with compassion, clarity, and care, holding space for your growth, alignment, and emotional stability.
In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other and gently explore what brings you here —your concerns, symptoms, and hopes. I’ll walk you through what therapy can look like so we can ease any uncertainty you may feel. Together, we’ll begin to shape a path forward, creating a treatment plan that feels grounded, collaborative, and aligned with your goals for healing and growth.
What stands out most in my approach is the way I hold space —with gentleness, compassion, and deep respect for your unique experience. This is a safe and nonjudgmental space where all parts of you are welcome: your thoughts, your feelings, your fears, and your hopes. I draw from evidence-based approaches like CBT, ERP, and trauma-focused therapy, but I always begin with connection and trust. You’ll be met with care, validation, and steady encouragement to uncover your strengths and move toward lasting healing.
Starting therapy can feel scary, confusing, and empowering —sometimes all at once. I honor your courage in taking the first step toward healing, no matter where you're starting from. I’m especially attuned to working with clients who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected, and are ready (or even just willing) to explore their emotions and begin creating meaningful change. Whether you're navigating anxiety, obsessions and compulsions, past trauma, life transitions, or a desire for deeper self-understanding, I’m here to support you with care and intention.
I have extensive training and experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), one of the most evidence-based approaches for treating anxiety, depression, and a wide range of mental health concerns. I use CBT to help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, challenge cognitive distortions, and build healthier, more empowering ways of thinking and behaving. In our work together, I integrate CBT tools like thought records, behavioral activation, and structured problem-solving, always tailored to each client’s unique story and pace. I use this approach to help clients not just cope, but create lasting change in how they relate to themselves and the world.
I specialize in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard treatment for OCD and related anxiety disorders. With compassion and collaboration, I guide clients through the process of gradually facing their fears while resisting compulsive behaviors or avoidance. ERP can feel challenging, but it’s also incredibly empowering. I help clients build the tools and confidence to tolerate uncertainty and discomfort, reclaiming their lives from the grip of anxiety. I’ve supported clients through ERP both in-person and virtually, and I tailor the approach to be structured, flexible, and affirming.
I incorporate mindfulness-based therapy to help clients reconnect with the present moment, reduce reactivity, and develop greater self-awareness and emotional regulation. I’ve used mindfulness approaches effectively with clients experiencing stress, anxiety, trauma, and burnout. Together, we explore breathwork, grounding techniques, and mindful self-compassion to create more space between thoughts, emotions, and actions. This approach supports healing at a deeper level, building not just insight, but resilience and self-connection.
I’m trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), a specialized approach for children, teens, and families healing from trauma. I use TF-CBT to help young clients process their experiences safely, develop coping skills, and reduce symptoms of PTSD. I work closely with caregivers when appropriate, helping them support their child’s healing journey. Through a balance of structure, creativity, and empathy, I create a space where young clients can make sense of their stories and move forward with strength.
I offer Prolonged Exposure therapy to clients navigating the effects of PTSD. PE is a powerful evidence-based treatment that helps clients gradually process traumatic memories in a safe, structured way, reducing avoidance and reclaiming their lives. With a strong therapeutic alliance, I support clients in confronting feared memories and situations, and learning that healing is possible without needing to avoid or suppress their experiences. My approach is always paced with the client’s readiness and guided by their strength.
