About me

Hi there! Are you struggling in life to find yourself? Is it tough for you to be able to focus on life's tasks because you are feeling down, sad, or anxious? Well, I am here to help you. My name is Christyn "Christy" Jaap, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I received my Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2013 then received my Master of Arts (MA) degree in Counseling in 2017. I have several years of experience working with children and adolescents, within the school setting and outside the school setting, thus specializing in counseling children and adolescents. I have partnered with a company that provides counseling services to children and teenagers who are in foster care, thus focusing on helping individuals who have experienced trauma in life. I also help individuals who struggle to have self-confidence, self-esteem, and boundaries. Together, we can help you find who you are as an individual and be able to effectively have boundaries with others in life. Whether you are having issues within yourself, with others, or with your significant other, we can work together to help you navigate your emotional challenges, achieve personal growth, and improve your overall well-being.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we will start with introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

I utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques, as each individual is unique. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, and Internal Family Systems to help individuals process their feelings, thoughts, and emotions to be able to understand them and begin to improve their mental health.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I work very well with children and adolescents, as I have worked in the school setting for approximately 10 years. I build rapport very quickly and effectively with children and teenagers, as they feel comfortable sharing their personal experiences in the therapeutic setting. I am highly effective at working with individuals who struggle with self-confidence and self-esteem. Through the course of therapy, one's self-worth begins to shift from negative to positive, allowing one's self to truly see their potential.
