New to Grow
Hi , this is Shipra Singh, I am an independently licensed clinician and supervisor, in Kentucky. I have been practicing since 17 years, and have worked with individuals, couples, families and groups. I believe in being a comrade of my clients in their journey of healing and finding a balance in their life. Therapy in todays world is not just a means to support our mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression etc, but therapy also serves as the most needed form of self care and a safe space to process our daily life challenges. This helps in not bringing those challenges in our relationships and other life areas, and rather enjoy them and be present with them. I aim to work with my clients at a pace they identify as safe and healthy for them, and with time find stability with their emotional , mental and social life needs and areas.
In the very first session its all about you, and building a connection and trust to move forward with our therapy journey. Its an open space as well as a private and safe space for you to just have a moment with yourself, and establish an initial plan to continue on to have self care and better quality of life goals.
To create a safe energy environment, with person centered therapy based empathetic, non judgmental and genuinely caring approach to attend client at a place where they are at. The other two strengths i identify in my therapy approach are efficient implementation and use of cognitive behavior therapy approach to gain clear insight into challenges and triggers. I aim to use strength based approach to support clients in experiencing empowerment and better self esteem and self efficacy about their ability to work on their life and experience their full potential.
I dont have any specific expectations of a client although mostly clients trapped in the mix of daily life events and are seeking a comrade to make sense of the challenges, to find their inner strengths and to eventually find a grip on their life. I believe therapy is not just for few weeks or months, its a medium and a safe space to keep processing challenges which do not have to disrupt our personal life and relationships which sometimes is a challenge when we dont have other support system.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have been using Cognitive Behavior Therapy in integration with Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing as well as Strength based and solution focused therapy approach to support clients in gaining insight into triggers and become more self aware about potential solutions and their needs, to work on them.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Helps in identifying and understanding the emotion behind triggers and challenging behaviors and reactions. This helps in processing these emotions and resolving deep seated underpinnings that often make it hard to adapt and to make healthy changes in life and behavior, and make choices that helps one in finding better quality of life.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
To work on acceptance and eventually identify healthier alternatives of safe coping skills to manage challenges and triggers, to attain better quality of life
