Oneida Garcia

LCSW10 years of experience

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC-2) with over 20 years of experience supporting individuals through behavioral health, substance use, and life challenges. My approach is compassionate and focused on helping each person build on their strengths and work toward meaningful change. I have experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those involved with the criminal justice system. I provide Christian faith-based counseling for clients who wish to incorporate their spiritual beliefs into their healing journey.

First session

I know how difficult it can be to ask for help and take that first step. My goal is to make that step feel a little easier. In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other, talk about what brought you to therapy, and discuss what you hope to accomplish. You don’t have to have everything figured out—I’m here to listen without judgment and meet you where you are. You deserve a space that is truly yours—a place where you can feel heard, respected, and supported. Together, we’ll identify your goals and begin building a path forward at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Taking the first step toward support is a sign of strength, and I’ll be here to walk alongside you.

Strengths

I bring more than 20 years of experience in law enforcement, along with my clinical experience as an LCSW and CASAC-2. This unique background allows me to understand both the challenges people face and the importance of accountability and personal responsibility. My faith is an important part of who I am and what propels me forward, shaping my commitment to serve others with compassion, integrity, and purpose. I provide a supportive space while also helping clients stay accountable to the goals they set for themselves. I will listen, encourage, and respectfully challenge you when needed, while helping you recognize your strengths, overcome obstacles, and make meaningful changes. For clients who desire it, I can also incorporate faith and spirituality into the counseling process in a respectful and client-centered way.

Ideal clients

My ideal clients are adults navigating life’s challenges and seeking support, accountability, and meaningful change. I especially enjoy working with individuals who have experienced involvement with the criminal justice system. I also welcome law enforcement officers (LEOs) seeking a safe, supportive space to process the weight and demands of the job. I welcome clients who would like to incorporate Christian faith and spirituality into their counseling. Whether you are working toward recovery, making positive life changes, or simply looking for a safe place to be heard, I provide a compassionate and supportive environment while helping you stay accountable to your goals. You do not have to face these challenges alone.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I help clients identify unhelpful patterns, develop healthier ways of thinking, and learn practical tools to manage challenges.

Faith-based therapy

I use faith-based therapy to support clients who want their faith and spiritual beliefs to be part of their healing journey. I create a safe and respectful space to explore how faith, prayer, values, and hope can support healing, recovery, and personal growth.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

As a Latina who speaks Spanish, I understand the importance of family, culture, and the values that often shape our experiences. I strive to create a safe and welcoming space where clients feel understood, respected, and supported.
